http://www.marketwire.com/press-rel....leted-tsx-chm-1595625.htm

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 7, 2011) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion" or the "Company") is pleased to provide the remaining assay results from the 2011 Moire Lake diamond-drilling program. The Moire Lake Project, which comprises Cluster 1 of Champion's Fermont Iron Holdings in north-eastern Quebec, is immediately east of ArcelorMittal's Mont Wright Mine property, and is 8 kilometres south of existing rail transport infrastructure.

Twenty-one drill holes totalling 9,347 metres (m) were completed at Moire Lake in 2011. The initial drill holes tested a newly interpreted geological model that indicated significant upside potential to the Historic Mineral Resource Estimate(1) for the Lac Moire Occurrence (102 MT grading 31% Total Iron ("FeT")). Favourable results from this original 5,000 m drilling program encouraged Champion to increase the drill program metreage.

Champion Minerals Continues to Drill Long Intersections of High-Grade Iron Formation at the Oil Can Project, Adjacent to Its Fire Lake North Project, Fermont, Quebec

- Drill hole OC11-08 intersected 545.7 metres grading 33.7% Total Iron including 442.3 metres grading 36.4% Total Iron

- Drill hole OC11-05 intersected 303.4 metres grading 34.7% Total Iron

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 13, 2011) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion", or the "Company") is pleased to provide assay results for three additional drill holes completed on the Company's Oil Can Project ("Oil Can"), located northeast of, and contiguous with, the Company's flagship Fire Lake North Project in the Fermont Iron Ore District, Quebec.

The four drill holes completed on the South Zone at Oil Can were drilled on sections spaced approximately 400 metres (m) apart, along the estimated 1300 m strike length of a crescent-shaped magnetic anomaly (see Figure 1). To help determine the true width of the targeted iron formation, hole OC11-08 was drilled towards the bearing of holes OC11-02 and OC11-05.

In the central and widest part of the anomaly, drill hole OC11-08 intersected 545.7 m of magnetite-hematite-rich iron formation grading 33.7% Total Iron (FeT) that includes an interval of 442.3 m grading 36.4% FeT. Drill hole OC11-05 intersected 303.4 m grading 34.7% FeT that includes 130.8 m grading 36.5% FeT whereas drill hole OC11-02, located at the eastern end of the anomaly, intersected 401.5 m grading 30.7% FeT that includes a 213.5 m interval grading 33.1% FeT (see Champion press release dated October 20, 2011). Drill hole OC11-07, located at the western end of the anomaly, intersected 197.2 m grading 26.8% FeT.

Tom Larsen, Champion's President and CEO commented, "The Oil Can Project is shaping up to be a significant satellite asset to our Fire Lake North Project, with results indicating the potential for a large iron resource. We foresee the Oil Can Project potentially providing supplemental ore feed to a process plant at our Fire Lake North Project. Clearly, the projects would benefit from key operating synergies, such as rail transport and port infrastructure. Champion remains focused on developing the Fire Lake North Project and continues to systematically delineate complimentary resources on its nearby projects. Our National Instrument (NI) 43-101 compliant iron ore resources, which currently exceed 2.2 billion tonnes, are expected to grow significantly in the coming months and will place the Company's iron holdings among the top deposits in the Labrador Trough."

Champion Minerals Files Updated Preliminary Economic Assessment Study for its Fire Lake North Project

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 6, 2012) - Champion Minerals Inc. ("Champion" or the "Company") (TSX:CHM)(FRANKFURT:P02) is pleased to announce the filing on SEDAR of its updated National Instrument 43-101 technical report for the Preliminary Economic Assessment ("PEA") study on the Fire Lake North Project.

As reported previously by the Company on November 21, 2011, some highlights of the PEA study include the following:

Based on a 25 year financial analysis of one production line at the concentrator, the Fire Lake North Base Case has a Net Present Value of $4 billion at a discounted cash flow rate of 8%.

The Internal Rate of Return for the project is 41.5% and the payback period is 2.3 years.

For the first 5 years of production, 10 million tonnes of concentrate will be produced annually from 23 million tonnes of Run of Mine at a head grade of 34.2% total iron and a strip ratio of 2.46:1, yielding a weight recovery of 43.2%.

Average annual production of 8.7 million tonnes of iron concentrate for the first 25 years grading 65% total iron with "In Pit" resources sufficient for a 40 year mine life.

The PEA study recommends investigating the option to double the production rate based on the 922 million tonnes of "In Pit" resources1.

A copy of the technical report will also be available on Champion's website at www.championminerals.com.

The PEA was completed by Dr. André Allaire, Eng., M.Eng., Ph.D., and Mr. Stéphane Normandin Eng., from BBA, an international, multi-disciplinary, engineering firm with expertise in mining and metallurgy, based in Montreal, (Quebec). The PEA study has an accuracy of +/-30%, which is considered industry standard for preliminary capital and operating cost estimates.

The PEA has a higher degree of detail than normally required and will facilitate the ongoing Fire Lake North Feasibility Study that is due in 2012.

Tom Larsen, Champion's President and CEO states, "The results from the PEA base case production scenario indicate Fire Lake North is a viable and economically robust project. Discussions are ongoing with strategic partners and stakeholders to evaluate various rail transportation options that could potentially lower the transportation costs significantly."

The PEA study is based on a stand-alone operation at Fire Lake North and does not consider any other adjacent projects in the area (refer to the appended Figure 1 map). The ongoing resource definition drilling program is designed to convert a significant portion of the current Inferred mineral resources to the Measured and Indicated categories for the 2012 Feasibility Study.

The Fire Lake North Project

Fire Lake North is located adjacent (to the north) of ArcelorMittal's operating Fire Lake Mine and is 60 km to the south of Cliffs Natural Resources Inc.'s Bloom Lake Mine in northeastern Quebec. Fire Lake North is situated at the southern end of the Labrador Trough, known to be coarser grained due to higher grade metamorphism within the Grenville geological Province. The Fermont-Wabush-Labrador City Iron Ore District is a world renowned Iron ore mining camp, and is considered to be an optimal location to develop iron ore resource projects.

The four iron ore producers in the vicinity comprise Canada's Iron ore production currently estimated at more than 40 million tonnes of Iron concentrate and pellets per year, including production from Cliff's Resources Bloom Lake Mine which was commissioned last year by Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines Limited. It was the first mine to be built in this district since the 1970's.

http://www.investor-sms.de/Boersenb....re-wichtige-News-in-Sicht

Eisenvererzung

Denn Champion werde demnächst einige wichtige Neuigkeiten publizieren.

Champion Minerals Announces Resource Estimate of High-Grade Specular Hematite/Magnetite-Rich Iron Zones at Moire Lake Project

Indicated Resources-164 Million Tonnes Grading 30.5% Total Iron

Inferred Resources-417 Million Tonnes Grading 29.4% Total Iron

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 29, 2012) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion" or the "Company") is pleased to announce results of a Mineral Resource Estimate completed on its Moire Lake Project ("Moire Lake" or "the Property") located in Cluster 1 of Champion's Fermont Iron Holdings in north-eastern Quebec. The Property is situated immediately east of ArcelorMittal's Mont Wright Mine, and is 8 kilometres south of existing railway and other infrastructure.

Results from twenty-one (21) diamond drill holes completed by Champion in 2011 were used to model the iron formation deposit and calculate the current Mineral Resource Estimate for a zone historically referenced as the "Lac Moire Occurrence" (COGITE Occurrence # 23B/14-0014; GM-28079). The iron mineralization at Moire Lake is specular hematite and magnetite-rich with distinct lower-grade zones defined along the wall rock contacts. The deposit has a bowl-shaped geometry and has been delineated to the western limits of the Property. Geological and geophysical evidence indicates that the mineralization continues westward onto ArcelorMittal's Mont Wright property.

The current Mineral Resource Estimate for the Moire Lake Project (Table 1) was completed by P&E Mining Consultants Inc. of Brampton, ON.

Champion Minerals Enters Into an Exclusive Memorandum of Understanding With the Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam Innus First Nation on the Potential Development of a New Multi-User Railway

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 2, 2012) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion", or the "Company") is proud to announce that it entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam Innu First Nation ("ITUM") of Uashat, Québec, located near the Port of Sept-Îles.

"This memorandum of understanding confirms that ITUM has agreed to enter into exclusive discussions with Champion in connection with the potential development of an entirely new multi-user railway and the potential creation of a partnership, the equity of which would be opened to other users, in order to design, build and manage this new railway. The objective of this new railway would be to service the iron ore industry directly linking the Fire Lake North region to the planned multi-user Port Facility at Pointe Noire, in Sept-Îles, Québec", says Richard Quesnel, Senior Technical Advisor and Head of Champion's Advisory Board.

At this stage, the intent of ITUM and Champion is that the interests and long term vision of ITUM will be integrated in the project planning as the parties desire to create a sustainable development project that will enable the economic development of the region and support mutual environmental and social responsibility objectives. "This railway project is the one that offers the best prospects for the development of my community. Negotiated with respect, this project offers sustainable economic benefits and constitutes an important asset that will create appealing jobs on our territory for our next generations", said Chief Georges-Ernest Grégoire of ITUM.

"Champion is also in discussions with other potential iron ore shippers in connection with the potential expansion of this new railway further north to service regions where other significant deposits are located", stated M. Quesnel.

Tom Larsen, Champion's President and CEO commented, "We are extremely pleased to announce this agreement with ITUM to develop a railway that will benefit their community as well as enable the development of iron ore projects in the Labrador Trough. We look forward to working together with ITUM."

The participation of ITUM in this railway project is conditional upon, among other things, the negotiation of definitive agreements between Champion and ITUM.

Champion and Fancamp Complete Acquisition by Champion of Fancamp's Joint Venture Interest in the Fermont Properties and Related Transactions

TORONTO, ONTARIO and VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 18, 2012) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(OTCQX:CPMNF)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion") and FANCAMP EXPLORATION LTD. (TSX VENTURE:FNC) ("Fancamp") announce the completion of the acquisition by Champion of Fancamp's 17.5% joint venture interest in the Fermont Properties in the Fermont iron ore district in north-eastern Quebec, which was not already owned by Champion effective May 17, 2012, following release from escrow today. The acquisition was paid for by Champion issuing 14,000,000 common shares and 7,000,000 non-transferable warrants to Fancamp. Each warrant entitles Fancamp to purchase one common share of Champion at a price of $3.00 per share at any time between two and a half and three years after the date of issue, subject to acceleration in certain circumstances. The shares and warrants of Champion are subject to a four-month regulatory hold period and to a six-year voluntary restriction on transfer, subject to the consent of Champion. With the acquisition of those shares and together with shares currently held, Fancamp holds 12.59% of the shares of Champion on a non-diluted basis.

As a result of the acquisition, Champion now owns a 100% interest in the Fermont Properties and Champion and Fancamp terminated their joint venture relating to the Fermont Properties. However, Champion continues to retain its right of refusal over Fancamp's interest in the Lamellee Property and Fancamp continues to retain its 50% interest in the 3% royalty on the iron production from the Fermont Properties.

In connection with the acquisition, Fancamp has obtained from Champion a permanent and irrevocable waiver of Champion's right to buy-down one-third of Fancamp's 50% interest in the 3% royalty, which represents a 0.5% royalty interest. For this waiver, Fancamp paid $2.0 million to Champion. As a result, Champion retains its right to buy-down the royalty, from a third party, from 3% to 2.5%.

In connection with the waiver, Champion invested $2,000,000 in Fancamp by acquiring 8,000,000 common shares of Fancamp from treasury at a price of $0.25 per share.

Champion also invested $3,000,000 in Fancamp by acquiring 10,000,000 units of Fancamp at a price of $0.30 per unit. Each unit consists of one common share of Fancamp and one non-transferable warrant to purchase one common share of Fancamp at a price of $0.60 at any time between two and a half and three years after the date hereof, subject to acceleration in certain circumstances. As a result of regulatory requirements, Champion has agreed not to exercise warrants where the shares issuable upon exercise would result in a change of control of Fancamp unless approved by the disinterested shareholders of Fancamp. The shares and warrants of Fancamp are subject to a four-month regulatory hold period and to a six-year voluntary restriction on transfer, subject to the consent of Fancamp. With the acquisition of those shares and the other shares referred to above, Champion holds 16.46% of the shares of Fancamp on a non-diluted basis.

As a result of Champion and Fancamp acquiring securities in the other, Champion and Fancamp have entered into a reciprocal rights agreement governing certain investor rights and obligations as between them.

Champion and Fancamp will each be restricted from transferring securities of the other for a period of six years, after which time transfers will be permitted subject to certain restrictions. Champion and Fancamp will each be restricted from voting in certain circumstances, including not voting against the election of any nominee to the Board of Directors proposed by the other or against any resolutions supported by the Board of Directors of the other, subject to certain exceptions.

Champion and Fancamp will each be entitled to nominate two persons to the Board of Directors of the other so long as Champion holds at least 12,000,000 shares of Fancamp and Fancamp holds at least 10,000,000 shares of Champion.

Effective today, Mr. Paul Ankcorn, one of the nominees of Champion, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Fancamp, and Mr. Jean Lafleur, one of the nominees of Fancamp, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Champion. With that appointment, Mr. Ankcorn has resigned from the Board of Directors of Champion but joins its Advisory Board. The remaining nominees of Champion and Fancamp will be nominated for election to the Board of Directors of the other at their respective next annual meetings of shareholders.

The boards of directors of Fancamp and Champion have each unanimously determined that the proposed transaction is fair and in the best interest of their respective companies. Raymond James Ltd, financial advisor to Fancamp and its board of directors, for this transaction has provided an opinion to the effect that the consideration offered to Fancamp shareholders is fair, from a financial point of view, to Fancamp shareholders. Primary Capital Inc. acted as financial advisor to Champion and its board of directors for these transactions.

For past services rendered, Fancamp has issued 250,000 common shares at a price of $0.30 per share to Raymond James Ltd. as part of its compensation. The shares are subject to a four-month regulatory hold period.

Champion Minerals Conveys an Additional 5% Interest in the Attikamagen Iron Property to Labec Century Iron Ore Inc.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 6, 2012) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(OTCQX:CPMNF)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion" or the "Company") reports that, pursuant to the Attikamagen Option and Joint Venture Agreement (the "Agreement") entered into with Labec Century Iron Ore Inc. ("Labec Century"), a subsidiary of Century Iron Mines Corporation, Champion has signed and delivered to Labec Century transfers conveying to Labec Century an additional 5% interest (the "Additional Interest") in the Attikamagen Iron Property. In February, 2012, Champion conveyed the initial 51% interest in the Attikamagen Iron Property to Labec Century.

In addition to the $7,500,000 in exploration and development work expenditures on the Attikamagen Iron Property funded by Labec Century required to earn the Initial Interest, Labec Century has increased its interest to 56% by funding a further $2,500,000 in exploration and development work on the Attikamagen Iron Property, well in advance of the May 12, 2013 deadline. Labec Century has the option to further increase its interest to 60% by funding an additional $3,000,000 in exploration and development work on the Attikamagen Iron Property on or before May 12, 2014.

"Champion is pleased that Century Iron Mines Corporation, through its subsidiary, Labec Century, is continuing to progress exploration of the Attikamagen Iron Property. It is worth noting and repeating that Labec Century has attracted WISCO International Resources Development & Investment Limited as a very strong minority partner in the Attikamagen Iron Property," said Thomas G. Larsen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Champion. "To Champion, WISCO's agreement to fund Labec Century with $40,000,000 for a 40% interest in Labec Century speaks loudly about the potential in the Attikamagen Iron Property."

Champion Minerals Completes Phase 1 Feasibility Definition Drilling Program at Fire Lake North Project

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 21, 2012) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(OTCQX:CPMNF)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion", or the "Company") is pleased to announce the completion of the Phase I Feasibility Definition Drilling program on its wholly-owned flagship Fire Lake North Project, in the Fermont Iron Ore Mining District of Quebec. Over 22,000 metres (m) of definition drilling has been completed since early January 2012 in the East and West pit areas. The 2012 drilling was focused within the proposed West area designed pit limits and the East area starter pit as outlined by the November 2011 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).

In the West pit area, over 17,000 m of definition drilling has been completed since the PEA and defines the underlying iron resource within a tight, overturned synform. The synform is gently east-dipping at the south end of the deposit and rotates from east-dipping through a vertical position and into a moderately west-dipping orientation at the north end of the deposit. With the exception of one cross-section, the limbs and fold closure hosting the specular hematite mineralization remains open down-dip along the deposit's entire 3,500 m strike length.

The feasibility drilling program has outlined specular hematite iron mineralization in the West pit area with approximate true widths varying from 100 to 200+ m and beyond the limits of the PEA designed pit. Drill holes FW12-24 (section 9800N) and FW12-15 (section 9700N) each contained substantial near true width intersections ranging from 30.3% Total Iron (FeT) over 167 m to 34.2% FeT over 226 m, respectively. The near true width intersections indicate the iron formation dips are shallowing in this area at vertical depths of less than 350 meters and remain open down-dip extending beyond the west wall of the PEA designed pit (see Table 1 and Figures 1 and 2).

Champion Minerals Announces an Agreement With the Port of Sept-Iles

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 18, 2012) - CHAMPION MINERALS INC. (TSX:CHM)(OTCQX:CPMNF)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has signed a long-term agreement (the "Port Agreement") with the Sept-Îles Port Authority related to its planned 50 million tonne per year multi-user port facilities. The Port Agreement has an initial term of 20 years, renewable for up to four additional 5-year terms. The Sept-Îles Port Authority has committed to complete its planned port facilities by March 31st, 2014, which is approximately eighteen months ahead of the planned production start-up date for Champion's wholly-owned Fire Lake North Project. This agreement guarantees Champion ship-loading capacity at the Port of Sept-Iles for a minimum of 10 million tonnes of iron concentrate per year at preferential rates, using two ship loaders, each with a capacity of 8000 tonnes per hour. The Port Agreement also provides an opportunity to expand Champion's reserved annual tonnage in the event of potential future expansions of iron concentrate production from Fire Lake North.

In order to finance the estimated $220 million cost of the new facility, the Sept-Îles Port Authority required Champion and other potential end-users to fund a portion of the construction cost through a "buy-in payment". Champion's buy-in payment is $25,581,000 payable in instalments, with the initial instalment payable on signing and the final payment payable on July 1, 2013. The buy-in payment will constitute an advance on Champion's future shipping, wharfage and equipment fees.

The Port Agreement also includes a sliding-scale fee schedule for shipping, wharfage and equipment fees payable on Champion's iron concentrate shipped through the port facilities and a monthly "take or pay" fee based on 50% of reserved tonnage commencing from the date of completion of the port facilities.

Tom Larsen, Champion's President and CEO commented, "We are extremely pleased to announce this agreement with the Sept-Îles Port Authority which will substantially advance our goal to bring Champion's robust Fire Lake North project into production."

Vormachbarkeitsstudie Champions Eisenerzprojekt Fire Lake North hat einen Wert von 3,3 Mrd. CAD
Autor: Björn Junker
| 07.02.2013, 14:52 | 758 Aufrufe | 0 | druckversion

CAD steigen.

Dennoch gehen 200

Authorization) seitens der Regierung Québecs ist im Q1 2014 zu rechnen;

Dies hing in erster

Positive prefeasibility fails to stop Champion Iron's price slide

2013-02-11

VANCOUVER – A preliminary feasibility study concluded the East and West deposits at Champion Iron Mines' (CHM-T) Consolidated Fire Lake North project could produce 9.3 million tonnes of concentrate grading 66% iron for almost 20 years, but lingering uncertainty over how to move that concentrate to market is hurting project economics and investor confidence.

Consolidated Fire Lake North (CFLN) is part of Champion's Fermont property holdings, which cover 750 sq. km in northeastern Quebec. CFLN is the most advanced of the five iron ore projects within the Fermont portfolio. And it is undoubtedly in iron mining territory: CFLN sits just north of ArcelorMittal's (MTN-N) Fire Lake mine and 60 km south of Cliff Natural Resources (CLF-N) Bloom Lake mine.

The project boasts a large resource: 693 million measured and indicated tonnes grading 31.5% total iron plus 522 million inferred tonnes grading 30.1% iron. However, the prefeasibility study only considered 465 million tonnes of proven and probable reserves contained within an engineered pit.

Those reserves were sufficient to feed a mine producing 9.3 million tonnes of concentrate grading 66% iron for 20 years. The life-of-mine strip ratio averages 2.7 tonnes of waste for each tonne of ore, though that will decrease if Champion can upgrade the 30 million tonnes of inferred resource within the pit, as those tonnes are currently considered waste.

The project as envisioned carries a $3.3 billion pretax net present value, using an 8% discount rate, and is expected to generate a 30.9% pretax internal rate of return. That would allow Champion to pay back the $1.4 billion capital cost in 3.4 years.

That capital cost number cuts out a big chunk of one key cost: a rail connection. The study assumed Champion would have to build a 310-km project-specific rail connection to Sept-Iles, which would cost $1.3 billion. Of that amount, the study added $200 million in upfront rail costs to the project capital cost and assumed Champion would finance the rest of the rail project through debt financing.

To account for the expense of carrying that debt, the study added $9.47 to the cost to produce each tonne of concentrate, which before the rail debt service charge stood at just $4.80 per tonne.

Champion may not have to build its own rail line. Instead, the company is hopeful that a multiuser rail line from the CFLN area to the port of Sept Iles will come to fruition. CN Rail is expected to present a feasibility study on this multiuser concept by the end of May, in time for inclusion in the CFLN feasibility study due out in July.

Champion has worked away at every other angle of the project while awaiting the results from the rail study. The company secured access to the port at Sept-Iles, is in advanced negotiations for electric power to the site, and has secured permits to build a mine construction camp.

Champion hopes the pending feasibility study will include another significant change to the mine plan: a doubling of production capacity through the addition of a second concentrator line.

The doubled operation would produce 20 million tonnes of iron concentrate annually. Champion is waiting until it has delineated enough reserves to support the expanded operation for 20 years before committing to the second concentrator. To that end, Champion is advancing an infill drill program aimed at upgrading inferred resources to measured and indicated status, which would allow inclusion in a feasibility assessment.

In general, the company seems confident its project has more than enough iron to support a large, long-term mine. Champion's president and CEO, Thomas Larsen, said in a statement that "…Champion's resource base of over 2.6 billion tonnes within the confines of the Consolidated Fire Lake North project might ultimately support 30 to 40 million tonnes of iron concentrate production annually."

Moreover, the other properties within the company's Fermont portfolio could potentially contribute resources to be processed through the same facilities.

It seems investors are not quite so confident, or at least want more certainty on the outstanding issues of how the rail connection will work and whether the deposit can support the expanded operation. Champion's share price has fallen steadily for the last year, from a high of $2.27 last February to a new low of 45¢ after news of the prefeasibility study came out. Champion has 119 million shares outstanding.

Champion Responds to CN's Decision to Suspend Feasibility Study on a Proposed Rail Line to Serve the Quebec and Labrador Iron Ore Districts

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2013) - Champion Iron Mines Limited (TSX:CHM)(OTCQX:CPMNF)(FRANKFURT:P02) ("Champion", or the "Company") announces that further to the decision by the Canadian National Railway Company ("CN") released on February 12, 2013, to suspend the multi-user railway feasibility study, Champion reports that it considered the CN proposal for an integrated rail line and terminal handling facility to service the entire Quebec/Labrador iron ore range to be one of its three rail transport options.

Prior to joining the CN feasibility study process, Champion commissioned Rail Cantech who successfully completed a feasibility study for a private rail line from the Company's Consolidated Fire Lake North Project to the Pointe Noire wharf at the Port of Sept-Îles where Champion has reserved sufficient loading and storage capacity. Champion will now re-focus its efforts on a proposed rail line southbound to Pointe Noire and reactivate discussions with relevant parties that can assist the Company in the construction, financing and operation of this more flexible and highly economic alternative.

Tom Larsen, President and CEO of Champion commented, "While we are disappointed with CN's decision not to proceed with their rail line feasibility study at this time, we believe our Consolidated Fire Lake North project has the unique advantage of containing large-scale, superior iron deposits and has now progressed to the stage where it will attract major partners to bring the project into production." Mr. Larsen added, "We are committed to advancing our Consolidated Fire Lake North Project along with the necessary infrastructure and welcome the participation of global investors that take a long-term view and can bring the necessary expertise and resources to develop what we believe to be one of Quebec's most attractive mine projects."

With CN's termination of the feasibility study, CN is obligated to refund the entire deposit Champion contributed towards the study costs and provide any results and materials generated from the feasibility study.
