Sunridge Gold Reports High Grade Assay Values From Adi Nefas, Asmara Project, Eritrea
http://www.marketwire.com/press-rel...a-project-eritrea-tsx-venture-sgc-1556220.htm
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 1, 2011) - Sunridge Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SGC)(OTCQX:SGCNF) reports assay results from the recent drill program at the Adi Nefas zinc-gold-copper deposit located 6 kilometres east of the large Emba Derho Deposit on the Company's Asmara Project, Eritrea. The drill program was designed to test for expansion of the deposit to the north and at depth as well as to collect geotechnical and metallurgical samples for the current prefeasibility study on the Asmara North Deposits which include Emba Derho, Adi Nefas and Gupo Gold.

Highlights:

•NG 101-D intersected 4.60 metres of 9.13% zinc, 4.93 g/t gold and 1.20% copper
•AN GT 02 intersected 5.04 metres of 11.21% zinc, 4.07 g/t gold and 5.85% copper
•AN GT 04 intersected 15.99 metres of 10.36% zinc, 3.96 g/t gold and 1.97% copper
•AN GT 07 intersected 26.13 metres of 13.52% zinc, 1.88 g/t gold and 1.23% copper
The mineralized zone was successfully expanded by diamond drill holes AN-100 and AN-101 which extended the deposit 20 metres to the north and AN-GT-04, which extended the deposit to depth by 40 metres in the south.

Michael Hopley, Sunridge's President and CEO states, "These drill results further confirm the very high value of the mineralized material found at Adi Nefas when all metal values are taken into account. We believe that the current prefeasibility study being conducted on the Asmara North Deposits, which includes Adi Nefas, will show that this deposit will add significant value to the project economics by providing a higher grade "sweetener" feed to a process plant located at Emba Derho."

Boomende Goldnachfrage in Abu Dhabi
01.09.2011 | 11:00 Uhr | GoldMoney

Bell Copper Intersects Significant Base Metal Mineralization in Kabba Porphyry System
Bell Copper Corp BCU
9/1/2011 9:00:00 AM
VANCOUVER, Sep. 1, 2011, 2011 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) --

TSX-V Symbol: BCU

Bell Copper Corporation ("Bell Copper" or the "Company") (TSXV: BCU) is pleased to announce that it has completed drilling hole K-10 on its 100% owned Kabba project in Mohave County, Arizona. The Company can confirm that the hole intersected a base metal veined, highly brecciated and hydrothermally altered rock above the uppermost part of the porphyry that is at least 1.6 km wide. The presence of base metal veins and the several hundred shallowly dipping quartz-molybdenite-carbonate veinlets that were intersected before exiting the diatreme provides further evidence that the breccia is a very receptive host rock, and that there is a good chance of intersecting a copper shell in the upper parts of the porphyry system.

Hole K-10 started with a rotary drill, with cemented steel casing down to a depth of 1,000 m. From 1,000 m to a depth of 1,347 m the hole was cored with a diamond drill. The hole intersected the western edge of the diatreme breccia above the porphyry, and encountered copper, molybdenum, lead, and zinc mineralization, along with more than ten varieties of porphyry dikes. Parts of the lower cored interval are being split and sampled, with assay results expected in late September. Hole K-8, a previously drilled hole located 1.6 km to the east of hole K-10, is interpreted to have intersected the eastern edge of the diatreme breccia.

Bell believes that its efforts to date have resulted in the discovery of the buried top of a major Laramide porphyry copper-molybdenum system that has been displaced east and downwards by a major, post mineral, low-angle fault. The base metal mineralization intersected in K-10 looks similar to material mined at the Century and Enterprise mines along the western edge of the 3 km by 5 km outcropping roots of the porphyry system, 7.5 km to the west. The targeted copper shell within the top of the porphyry, which normally hosts the higher grade copper mineralization, is expected to lie within the untested 1.6 km between holes K-8 and K-10, with the width of the porphyry expected to expand in size at depth to the 3 km by 5 km size seen in the truncated root to the west.

Bell's target at Kabba is a Resolution-type system which hosts published inferred resources of 1.624 billion tonnes grading 1.47% Cu and 0.037% Mo. Resolution is owned by Rio Tinto and BHP-Billiton and is one of several, billion-tonne copper deposits that have been discovered in Arizona. Kabba remains a top tier exploration target for the Company, and with the further encouraging results from hole K-10, the company will continue to advance the project.

Dr. Marsh, the Company's President, who prior to joining Bell Copper was the Chief Geologist at Resolution, stated "There are many key features of the Resolution system that we are seeing in hole K-10, including multiple overlapping intrusions, early potassic alteration, late advanced argillic alteration, distal lead-zinc-copper veins, and pervasive phyllic alteration in a pyrite-rich halo. This is a major porphyry system which displays the same characteristics that were identified in the discovery and definition drilling of the Resolution orebody. The remaining task is to determine the metal endowment of the system, and with the copper-rich distal veins and sheeted molybdenite veinlets that hole K-10 has intersected in the diatreme, we believe that the conditions are very favorable for significant metal emplacement within the copper shell of the porphyry."

For the purposes of this news release, the Qualified Person is Timothy Marsh, Ph.D., P.Eng.

Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. Highlights Results for 4th Quarter of Fiscal 2011

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 1, 2011) - Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. ("Petaquilla" or the "Company") (TSX:PTQ)(OTCBB:PTQMF)(FRANKFURT:P7Z) announces that its fourth quarter results of fiscal year 2011 show significant improvements. As a result of improved operational performance and rising gold prices, a net profit of US$5.4 million was generated during the fourth quarter. This second consecutive profitable quarter confirms the Company's improved profitability profile. Petaquilla's accumulated net income of US$7.5 million in the last two quarters of fiscal year 2011 reflects a positive trend in net results and the Company forecasts a positive net income for fiscal year 2012.

Gold mined during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011 increased by 36% compared to the previous quarter. This improvement contributed to a 72% increase in gold stockpiled for the on/off leach pad project forecasted for initial production during the second quarter of fiscal year 2012.

Gold poured during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011 increased by 30% compared to the previous quarter. Cash costs per ounce of gold sold during the fourth quarter represent an improvement of 9% compared to the previous quarter as a result of higher sales combined with reductions in operating costs. Fourth quarter cash costs of US$557 per ounce of gold sold represents the lowest cash cost per ounce of gold sold during the fiscal year.

In addition, during the fourth quarter, the Company filed an updated National Instrument 43-101 compliant mineral resource and reserve report for its Molejon Gold Project, upgrading measured and indicated resources to a proven and probable reserve of 643,266 contained gold ounces (15.3Mt @ 1.30g/t Au, average metallurgical recovery of 91.1%) as of the October 1, 2010, production cut-off. This represents an increase of 61% over the previous calculated reserve as of the October 1, 2010, production cut-off.

Financial and operational conditions improved during the fiscal year ended May 31, 2011, as evidenced by an increase of 44% in the Company's total assets and a decrease of 6% in its total liabilities, both compared to May 31, 2010. Petaquilla's cash position as of the end fiscal year 2011 was US$11.9 million, an increase of 80% compared to its previous year end.

Status Change: Gold Moves From Investment To Money

http://www.forbes.com/sites/richdanker/2011/08/24/status-change-gold-moves-from-investment-to-money/

Big banks do not typically give themselves over to political pronouncements, but that did not stop the Erste Group from declaring on the front page of its gold report published last month, “The foundation of a return to ‘sound money’ has been laid.” The Austria-based financial services provider surveys the new dynamics of gold and monetary policy and finds that not only is its price likely to continue to rise, but so will its acceptance by governments as money.

“The past months have shown a clear trend: gold has been more and more regarded as the purest form of money and increasingly less as a commodity,” writes Erste analyst Ronald-Peter Stoferle. He tracks this status change in the way financial institutions like J.P. Morgan are accepting gold as collateral, states in the U.S. are pushing to declare gold as legal tender, and foreign central banks are adding it to their reserves. Why the movement to gold per se? It is an emphasis on asset-based rather than debt-based money. As Stoferle puts it, “The possession of gold is tantamount to pure ownership without liabilities.”

The rise in gold’s dollar-denominated price, going back not just the last couple years but the past decade, is impressive: 17 percent per year on average since 2001. This performance is indicative of a remonetization phenomenon rather than a bubble. Investors and central bankers have woken up to the reality that paper currencies decline over the long run because governments cannot resist pump priming in the face of economic slowdown.

The pump priming meant to nudge the economy out of the early 2000s recession spawned the housing bubble and its disastrous endgame. No central bank action, and virtually every possible one has been tried, has turned things around. The Erste report acknowledges a system failure: interest rates cannot go any lower, government debt has saturated the economy, and the misery index (the sum of the unemployment and inflation rates) in the U.S. is close to its average in the 1970s. Indeed, the real economy in addition to the financial system is deeply flawed. Forty-four million Americans are on food stamps and the effective unemployment rate is closer to 20 percent than the reported 9 percent.

Stoferle deftly links the rise in inequality in the U.S. to its monetary policy. Today, a CEO earns 425 times the average worker’s wages; in 1980 the disparity ratio was 24:1. “Monetary dispersion is not neutral,” he writes. “Market participants who receive the new money early and exchange it for goods benefit in comparison with those who get the newly created money later. We can see a transfer of assets from late money users to early money users.”

This is the Cantillon effect posited by Irish economist and Adam Smith predecessor Richard Cantillon: price inflation is relative and staggered as “newly created is distributed neither equally nor simultaneously among the population.” Picture banks and their favored borrowers with access to the Fed’s zero interest rate program borrowing dollars and investing in assets that have either higher yields like Treasuries or long-term security like gold. Later on, consumers without those resources or sophistication are punished at the gas pump and grocery story by the resulting price inflation. Printing money doesn’t just cause financial disorder; it stokes inequality.

Political opponents of the gold standard have said in the past that people will not tolerate the sacrifice of monetary and fiscal flexibility that comes with it. But people are losing tolerance for monetary and fiscal flexibility run amok. Zero inflation and balanced budgets or rising inflation and debt crises? It’s obvious which choice of outcomes is more in demand these days.

Stoferle envisions a future in which people routinely ask for the price in gold rather than the price of gold. Given that its production rate and supply growth are so stable, gold’s value is certainly beyond question. What aren’t beyond question are the paper currencies which have caused so much economic disorder and destruction recently. Gold’s transition from an investment to money will continue until people can freely and legitimately transact in gold and gold-backed currency.

Fortuna's San Jose starts commercial production

2011-09-01 12:59 ET - News Release

Mr. Jorge Ganoza reports

FORTUNA BEGINS COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION AT SAN JOSE MINE, MEXICO

Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. began commercial production at its San Jose silver-gold mine in Oaxaca, Mexico, today. Construction of the wholly owned mine was initiated in March, 2010, and was concluded on time and on budget, with total construction capital investment of approximately $55-million (U.S.).

San Jose is expected to produce 520,000 ounces of silver and 4,600 ounces of gold in 2011, and 1.7 million ounces of silver and 15,000 ounces of gold in 2012 at an estimated cash cost per silver ounce of $5.04 (U.S.), net of byproducts.

"This is a milestone for Fortuna. Our entire organization, with a special mention to our team at San Jose, has performed exceptionally well by delivering the construction and commissioning of our second mine on time and on budget. We now look forward to continue delivering production growth through the expansion of San Jose to 1,500 tonnes per day by third quarter of 2013. In addition, we are scoping production expansion of our Caylloma mine for 2012," said Jorge A. Ganoza, Fortuna president, chief executive officer and director.

Commissioning of the processing plant began on July 15, 2011, treating low-grade ore from development stock piles, and was completed on Aug. 31, 2011, with the mill and mine operating steadily at the initial design rate of 1,000 tonnes per day (tpd). Metallurgical recoveries achieved for silver and gold are 75 per cent and 80 per cent respectively, both within 80 per cent of design parameters. Management expects that recoveries will continue to improve over the coming weeks to the targeted 88-per-cent recovery for silver and 90 per cent for gold, as the process continues to be fine-tuned and the plant is sourced with production ore. The San Jose mine currently has approximately 51,000 tonnes in the coarse ore stockpile and 5,000 tonnes in fine ore stockpile.

Production on stopes K, L and M is proceeding as scheduled to support the initial design throughput rate of 1,000 tpd. Mine and processing plant ramp-up to design capacity of 1,500 tpd is scheduled to be concluded in the third quarter of 2013.

For 2011, Fortuna's consolidated production guidance is 2.4 million ounces of silver, 7,530 ounces of gold plus approximately 38.4 million pounds of combined lead and zinc production. For the first two quarters of 2011, silver production at its Caylloma mine in Peru was 912,102 ounces, with 10.3 million pounds of lead and 11.9 million pounds of zinc as byproducts. For 2012, the company anticipates an increase in production to 3.7 million ounces of silver, 18,041 ounces of gold, and approximately 39.8 million pounds of combined lead and zinc production.

We seek Safe Harbor.
