WestCan Uranium Corp. Applies for Manitoba Coal Exploration Permits

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 27, 2008) - WestCan Uranium Corp. (TSX VENTURE:WCU)(FRANKFURT:IAR) ("WestCan") ("the Company") is pleased to announce the Company has applied to the Government of Manitoba for a coal exploration permit on two sections of land close to the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border. The decision was prompted by examination of Manitoba Geological Survey maps which indicate the area to be underlain by the Swan River formation of the same Cretaceous age as the Goldsource Mines Inc. recent coal discovery.

The permitting process in Manitoba is considerably more expensive than in Saskatchewan, however management felt it was imperative to acquire an initial block of land for exploration as traditionally, coal deposits are quite extensive and it would be highly unlikely they would end at the border. Further acquisitions will be considered as WestCan geologists continue to do due diligence.

Recently the Company has applied for permits in Saskatchewan covering 3 townships totalling over 27,000 hectares, and has received a comfort letter from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources, on one of those 3 parcels.

Dr. K. Warren Geiger, Ph.D., P. Eng., P.Geo., a Qualified Person for WestCan, as defined by NI 43-101, is currently co-ordinating the research of the development in east-central Saskatchewan and west-central Manitoba.

On behalf of the Board of Directors

Chris England, President and CEO

2008-06-26 19:37 ET - News Release

Mr. Graeme O'Neill reports

KENT EXPLORATION RECEIVES FIRST COMFORT LETTERS FOR SASKATCHEWAN COAL PROSPECTING PERMITS

Kent Exploration Inc. has received first-priority comfort letters from Saskatchewan Energy and Resources on 18,432 hectares of ground northwest of Hudson Bay. The properties are in close proximity to North American Gem's Adamas discovery, where, in 2007, Adamas discovered a coal seam that graded subbituminous A (National 43-101 compliant) quality over five metres in the Cretaceous rock (Mannville group rocks) sequence containing coal similar to the Goldsource coal discovery.

Historical data and reports suggest that coal is present to the north edge of the Cretaceous rock sequence along the shores of Wapawekka Lake to the north of the Adamas discovery and the company's claim groups. These reports further suggest that the Wapawekka outcrop is likely associated with a larger deposit to the south. The Adamas intercept is directly south of Wapawekka Lake along the low-lying basin adjacent to the southeast of the Narrow Hills uplands.

The recent coal discovery by Goldsource Mines of bituminous coal in two drill holes 1,600 metres apart in a low-lying basin southeast of the adjacent uplands at Pasquia Hills to the southeast of the Narrow Hills intercept confirms the regional potential for coal deposits and suggests the potential for a much larger coal system. The Goldsource discovery at Pasquia is roughly 80 to 100 kilometres southeast of Narrow Hills. Both have similar topographical features and are in the same Cretaceous rock sequence.

The company has filed and fully paid for 64 coal disposition applications totalling 50,688 hectares (approximately 127,620 acres), which are pending with Saskatchewan Energy and Resources. All the applications been made in accordance with all the rules and regulations set forth by the government of Saskatchewan's permitting office.

As with all other companies applying for coal dispositions in Saskatchewan, the company has its applications and coal prospecting permits subject to the Saskatchewan government's approval process. The standard issue comfort letter states, "The extent to which the land described in these applications can be issued has not been investigated, and therefore this letter should not be construed as an indication that any land will be issued, as a full review is still to be completed."

This news release has been prepared on behalf of the Kent Exploration board of directors, which accepts full responsibility for its contents. The contents of this news release have been reviewed and approved by Marvin A. Mitchell, PEng, a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

Groundstar Resources Receives Resource Evaluation for West Kom Ombo Block, Egypt
CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 26, 2008) - Groundstar Resources Limited (TSX VENTURE:GSA) is pleased to announce that an independent resource assessment (the "Report") has been completed by Gustavson Associates, LLC of Boulder, Colorado, USA ("Gustavson") for five prospects on the Company's West Kom Ombo Block located in Upper Egypt. Gustavson's probabilistic resource estimate of the five prospects yielded a best estimate (P50) prospective recoverable oil resource of 569 million barrels of oil (341 million net to Groundstar). Groundstar is the operator of the block with a 60% working interest.

Gustavson was retained by Groundstar to prepare the Report to estimate the potential undiscovered recoverable oil resources within the Lower Cretaceous-Abu Ballas reservoir that was proven to be oil bearing at the Al Baraka discovery announced by Centurion/Dana Gas in 2007. The Al Baraka discovery is located 75 kilometers to the east of the West Kom Ombo block; currently, Centurion is drilling an appraisal well (Kom Ombo #5) on the Al Baraka structure.

Gustavson conducted a re-evaluation of the subsurface data provided by Groundstar including re-interpretation of the 2D seismic coverage and petrophysical analysis of well logs from the Kom Ombo area. The oil resource estimate is for a single Lower Cretaceous reservoir. As the Lower Cretaceous is a thick sandstone/shale sequence, Gustavson states "multiple target horizons are possible given recent exploration results in this area". In addition, the seismic data contains evidence of large deeper structures below the Lower Cretaceous that could contain significant hydrocarbon reserves. The Centurion/Dana Gas Kom Ombo #4 well had significant oil shows in the Jurassic section over several hundred feet beginning at 8,000 feet.

No wells have been drilled on the West Kom Ombo block and there have been no reserves found to date. A commercial oil discovery (Al Baraka) has been made by Centurion/Dana Gas 75 kilometers to the east in the adjacent block. A probabilistic resource estimate of the five prospects within the West Kom Ombo block are shown below:

Prospective Oil Resources,Millions of BarrelsProspect Low Best High Estimate Estimate EstimateA 37 76 156B 107 258 543C 36 74 143D 67 138 266E 9 23 50Totals 256 569 1,158

Prospective resources are defined as "those quantities of oil and gas estimated on a given date to be potentially recoverable from undiscovered accumulations. They are technically viable and economic to recover."

Low Estimate - This is considered to be a conservative estimate of the quantity that would actually be recovered from the accumulation. This term reflect a P90 confidence level where there is 90% chance that a successful discovery will be more than this resource estimate.

Best Estimate - This is considered to be the best estimate of the quantity that would actually be recovered from the accumulation. This term is a measure of central tendency of the uncertainty distribution and in this case reflects a P50 confidence level where the successful discovery will have a 50% chance of being more than this resource estimate.

High Estimate - This is considered to be an optimistic estimate of quantity that will actually be recovered from the accumulation. This term reflects a P10 confidence level where there is a 10% chance that a successful discovery will be more than this resource estimate.

Kam Fard CEO & President of Groundstar stated, "The exploration potential of the West Kom Ombo Block shown by the independent evaluation report submitted by Gustavson is extremely supportive of Groundstar's work to date. We look forward to continuing our aggressive work program on the block."

Groundstar is a publicly traded Canadian junior oil and gas company actively pursuing exploration opportunities in Guyana, North Africa and the Middle East.

FORWARD LOOKING STATEMENTS: All statements in this news release that are forward looking statements involve various risks and uncertainties. Alix Resources Corp. and Geo Minerals Ltd. Apply for More Potash Exploration Permits
Increasing Land Position Bordering Potash North Resource Corp.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 27, 2008) - ALIX RESOURCES CORP. ("Alix" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:AIX)(FRANKFURT:37N) and GEO MINERALS LTD. ("Geo") (TSX VENTURE:GM) announce today that potash exploration permits have been applied for in Manitoba on the border of Saskatchewan. The applications cover an area of 1,536 hectares and are adjoining the recently acquired freehold potash title by Geo and Alix announced on June 13, 2008. If the applications are permitted, Geo and Alix will have a total of 1,789 hectares in the Devonian Prairie Evaporite.

The area of the applications is adjacent to Western Potash and 12 kilometres north of the Russell-Biscarth Potash deposit owned by Manitoba Potash Corp., and currently being explored and developed by BHP Billiton. Further to the South is the Prairie Potash Mines deposit currently being explored and developed by Western Potash.

The potash application area is on the border of Saskatchewan and is approximately 40 kilometres northeast of Potash Corp's Rocanville Mine in Saskatchewan. For reference the city of Langenberg Saskatchewan is 6 miles to the west.

The potash in this area occurs as sylvite, and is contained within the Devonian Prairie Evaporite with intercepts of potash (sylvite) occuring between 800 to 1000 metres depth. Further information on the Manitoba Potash belt can be viewed at the Government of Manitoba website http://www.gov.mb.ca/stem/mrd/busdev/industrial/potash.html. There currently are no potash mines in Manitoba but the Devonian Prairie Evaporite on the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border does host at least two known potash deposits being separately explored and developed by BHP Billiton and Westen Potash.

President Mike England states, "We are very excited to be increasing our land position in this prospective trend along the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border. Given the proximity to known potash deposits we feel this is an excellent location to expand on."

The technical contents of this release were approved by Geo Minerals' director and qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, Marvin Mitchell.
