Auch Unternehmen, die mit dem Edelmetall handeln, sollen nationalisiert werden, berichtete die Zeitung "El Nacional" am Mittwoch in ihrer Online-Ausgabe. Entsprechende Gesetze seien vorbereitet und würden demnächst verabschiedet, zitierte das Blatt den Präsidenten. Heute Morgen präsentierte der World Gold Council (WGC) die Nachfragetrends für Gold im zweiten Quartal 2011. Die gesamte Goldnachfrage ist im Vergleich zur Vorjahresperiode um 17% auf 919,8 Tonnen zurückgegangen. Dies ist nahezu ausschließlich der Investmentnachfrage geschuldet, die insbesondere aufgrund geringerer Zuflüsse in ETFs deutlich nachgab. Mit 51,7 Tonnen lagen die Netto-Zuflüsse 82% unter dem Vorjahreswert. Damals verzeichneten Gold-ETFs allerdings die zweithöchsten Zuflüsse überhaupt, seitdem diese Statistik erhoben wird.
Von einer Nachfrageschwäche kann jedoch keine Rede sein, wie die anderen Segmente der Goldnachfrage zeigen. So ist beispielsweise die Schmucknachfrage trotz der hohen Preise um gut 6% auf 442,5 Tonnen gestiegen. Vor allem Indien und China waren hierfür verantwortlich, die zusammen 55% der gesamten Schmucknachfrage ausmachten.
Dies zeigt sich auch in stark gestiegenen Importen in Indien, die um 60% auf 267 Tonnen zulegten. Damit haben offensichtlich die hohen Preise die Nachfrage in diesen beiden Ländern nicht beeinträchtigt. Daneben sind die Zentralbanken im zweiten Quartal mit 69,4 Tonnen erneut als Netto-Käufer am Markt aufgetreten. Die Käufe im ersten Halbjahr summieren sich somit auf 192,3 Tonnen. Auch im weiteren Jahresverlauf dürften die Zentralbanken laut Einschätzung des WGC als Netto-Käufer auftreten. Der Goldpreis dürfte daher auf dem hohen Niveau gut unterstützt sein.

RTE Toronto - (www.emfis.com) - Trotz eines kürzliche gemeldeten mehr als ansehnlichen Gewinnsprungs sieht das kanadische Gold-Unternehmen Kinross Gold offensichtlich einen erheblichen Kapitalbedarf, den man durch die die Emission drei verschiedener Anleihen-Tranchen decken möchte.
Alles in allem benötigen die Kanadier ihrer Ansicht nach eine Milliarde zusätzliche Dollars. Um diese Summe zu erhalten, bietet das Unternehmen gegenwärtig Anleihen in einem Volumen von 250 Millionen Dollar mit einer Laufzeit bis 2016 und einem Zins-Kupon von 3,625 Prozent an. Eine weitere Tranche umfasst Schuldverschreibungen in einem Gegenwert von 500 Millionen Dollar bei einem Kupon von 5,125 Prozent und einer Fälligkeit im Jahr 2021. Für Langfrist-Investoren hat Kinross Gold zudem noch Anleihen im Wert von nochmals 250 Millionen Dollar im Angebot. Die Laufzeit dieser Tranche geht bis 2041 und es erfolgt eine Verzinsung von 6,875 Prozent. Die Angebote sind bis zum 22. August dieses Jahres gültig.

Sollten die Anleihen komplett platziert werden können, hätte dies zur Folge, dass die langfristigen Verbindlichkeiten von Kinross Gold, die momentan bei 465,6 Millionen Dollar liegen, signifikant steigen. Allzu große Sorgen brauchen sich Aktionäre aber dennoch nicht zu machen. Selbst ein Kreditvolumen von 1,5 Milliarden Dollar steht noch in einem gesunden Verhältnis zu den Umsätzen und Gewinnen. Darüber hinaus haben die Kanadier in der Vergangenheit mehr als einmal gezeigt, dass sie Geld nicht einfach sinnlos verbrennen sondern zur Stärkung des operativen Geschäfts verwenden. Und da Kinross Gold unbedingt neue Lagerstätten erschließen muss, sind eine Milliarde zusätzliche Dollar sicherlich nicht jenseits von Gut und Böse.

Sunridge Gold Announces New Resource Estimate for Debarwa Deposit, Asmara Project, Eritrea
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 18, 2011) - Sunridge Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SGC) is pleased to announce that it has received a new independent resource estimate for the Debarwa volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit on the Company's 100% owned Asmara Project, Eritrea. This new resource was completed by AMC Consultants Pty Ltd. ("AMC") as part of the ongoing feasibility study on the Debarwa copper-gold-zinc deposit. The study is being conducted by Senet (Pty) Ltd. and AMC and is scheduled for completion before the end of the year.
The Debarwa Deposit is one of four deposits within the Asmara Project and is being studied as both a stand-alone deposit and/or as a potential feed to an operation in the northern part of the Asmara Project, which includes the large Emba Derho copper-zinc-gold deposit, the Adi Nefas zinc-gold copper deposit and Gupo gold deposit.
This new Debarwa resource estimate includes 83 additional drill holes completed since the last resource estimate in 2008. Previously the entire resource was either in the "Indicated" or "Inferred" categories and the main purpose of this program was to better define areas of the deposit for the feasibility study, to upgrade some of the resources previously classified as "Indicated" to the "Measured" category and to upgrade some of the resources previously classified as "Inferred" to the "Indicated" category.
The Debarwa feasibility study will only consider material in the Measured and Indicated categories and summary highlights of these categories is as follow:
The deposit in total is now estimated to contain 200 million pounds of copper, 180,000 ounces of gold, 2.94 million ounces of silver and 74 million pounds of zinc*
The underlying enriched supergene zone is estimated to contain 158 million pounds of copper with an average grade of 5.15% copper*
Within the copper supergene zone there is a zone of high-grade copper estimated to contain 41 million pounds with an average grade of 16.0% copper*
The surface oxide gold cap (oxide and transition zones) contains 83,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of 2.38 g/t gold*
*Note: Contained metal calculations are as follows: copper and zinc: tonnes x grade (%) x 2204.622. Gold and silver: tonnes x grade (g/t) ÷ 31.10348. Results were rounded and no allowance was made for metal losses in the recovery process.
