Glencore will provide technical support throughout the study phase through Sudbury-based affiliate, XPS - Expert Process Solutions
Work will be completed before the end of Q1 2020 and deliverables will include a NI 43-101 DFS on a 55 tpd refinery restart and a prefeasibility study (PFS) on a 12 tpd interim operating scenario
DETAILS
First Cobalt recently announced that it had entered into a US$5 million loan facility with Glencore AG to complete advanced engineering, metallurgical testing, field work and permitting associated with a recommissioning and expansion of the Refinery in Canada (see August 26, 2019 press release). Upon completion of a positive DFS for a refinery expansion in Q1 2020 and subject to certain other terms and conditions, Glencore is prepared to advance an additional US$40 million to recommission and expand the Refinery.
Ausenco of Toronto has been retained to prepare various engineering studies in support of restarting and expanding the Refinery, located near Cobalt, Ontario. Three engineering studies will be completed, which will include an interim scenario for restarting the Refinery at its current capacity of 12 tpd in a PFS as well as a DFS on expanding the refinery at a throughput of approximately 55 tpd. These two options roughly correspond to scenarios outlined in a scoping-level study previously completed by Ausenco (see May 28, 2019 press release). A third study will examine a scenario of first restarting production at 12 tpd and subsequently increasing throughput to 55 tpd. Work related to the tailing management facility for the DFS will be completed by Knight Piésold of North Bay, Ontario.
SGS of Lakefield, Ontario has been selected to complete advanced metallurgical test work on cobalt hydroxide and a specialty cobalt feed, both supplied by Glencore. First Cobalt previously partnered with SGS to produce a high purity battery-grade cobalt from cobalt hydroxide using the existing First Cobalt Refinery flow sheet. SGS and Ausenco will work collaboratively to further optimize the flowsheet in support of the engineering studies. SGS will also perform the necessary environmental test work on the tailings that result from the process.
Story Environmental of Haileybury, Ontario will be responsible for the environmental and permitting aspects of all three engineering studies. Story Environmental has been providing environmental consulting services for the Refinery since 2008 and, as such, is knowledgeable of the Refinery infrastructure, its surrounding environment and the environmental regulatory requirements. Initially, this work is expected to focus on the 12 tpd restart scenario for which the Refinery is currently permitted.
Trent Mell, First Cobalt President & CEO, commented, "The First Cobalt Refinery is a permitted facility that is in excellent condition and has a recent operating history. Our strategy is to work with Glencore to expand the Refinery to serve the growing needs of the North American electric vehicle market. To that end, we have partnered with a first-rate study team appropriate for the importance of the task at hand."
Work will commence almost immediately with a field program at the Refinery. The field program will consist of a small crew supplied by Ausenco who will test and inspect installed equipment and systems to gain a better understanding of the condition of every aspect of the Refinery with a view to identifying which components require upgrading or replacement.
All of the work will be overseen by First Cobalt Vice President Peter Campbell, P.Eng., and final results expected before the end of Q1 2020. Glencore will provide technical support and oversight as needed throughout the study phase.Marantha!

GOGOLD DRILLS 17.1M AVERAGING 6.45 G/T GOLD EQUIVALENT AT LOS RICOS AND 16.9M AVERAGING 1.45G/T GOLD EQUIVALENT 400M NORTHWEST OF THE MAIN ZONE
GoGold Resources Inc. has released the assay results from three new diamond drill holes at the Los Ricos main area and the first core hole drilled on the San Juan target located 400 metres to the northwest of the Main area.
Drill holes LRGG-19-031, 032 and 033 were drilled to test the Los Ricos vein in an area of known underground workings. Hole LRGG-19-033 intersected 22.5m of the Los Ricos vein from 31.0 to 53.5m down the hole but a total of 5.4m of the vein was mined out and the stopes were backfilled (assigned zero grade). The remaining unmined 17.1m of the Los Ricos vein averaged 6.45 g/t gold equivalent made up of 1.59 g/t gold and 364.2 g/t silver; including a 5.6m interval averaging 14.72 g/t gold equivalent made up of 3.81 g/t gold and 818.1 g/t silver.
Drill hole LRGG-19-030 was drilled to test the historical underground workings known as the San Juan Mine located 400m to the north of the Main Area. Between 1915 and 1918, the Cinco Minas Mining Company explored and developed the San Juan deposit on two levels with crosscuts and raises and described the vein and mineralization as the northern extension of the Los Ricos vein. Hole LRGG-19-030 intersected 16.9m of the Los Ricos Vein from 128.7 to 145.5m and averaged 1.45 g/t gold equivalent made up of 0.54 g/t gold and 67.8 g/t silver; including a 5.0m interval averaging 3.43 g/t gold equivalent made up of 1.46 g/t gold and 147.9 g/t silver.
"Our drilling program continues to show wide intervals of gold-silver mineralization remain on both sides of the stopes in the historical underground workings at the Main Area as shown in these new holes. Furthermore, we are very encouraged that our first step out drilling 400m along strike to the northwest and our previously announced step out drilling 1500m along strike to the southeast is greatly expanding the size of the Los Ricos target. We will continue to focus on the strike length expansion of the Los Ricos target and expect more results to come." stated Brad Langille, President and CEO.

BLUE STAR COMPLETES CAMP, STARTS 2,000M DRILL AND PROSPECTING PROGRAM AT HOOD RIVER
Blue Star Gold Corp. has begun its fall exploration program on the Hood River concessions in Nunavut. The field camp is constructed with facilities for 24 persons complete with core logging and cutting, and sample handling for shipping to assay. The diamond drill has commenced operation and is producing NQ-sized core, and is scheduled to finish the 2,000-metre program by the end of September. In addition, three teams of geologists with assistants are logging and sampling the core, and mapping and sampling on-strike zones of gold mineralization that were partially delineated by BHP in the 1990s.
Stephen Wilkinson, the company's chief executive officer and president, commented, "With up to 2,000 metres of diamond drilling planned, and our detailed surface mapping and sampling, Blue Star is intending to demonstrate the North Fold Nose gold zone and associated gold mineralization on the Hood River concessions hold the potential for new and accretive gold resources."
Blue Star's 2019 exploration plans
Several priority drill targets exist within the Hood River concessions. Blue Star has elected to focus on a series of gold occurrences that are on strike and north of the Ulu mining lease's advanced Flood gold zone and appear related to the five-kilometre-long Ulu regional fold. The North Fold Nose gold zone (NFN) is within part of the Ulu fold that extends for two km from the Ulu lease boundary north. It is reported that several gold occurrences are located on this trend including the NFN, the Bizen and the Apex veins. In 2014, the company sampled the NFN taking 18 channel samples that had an average width of 0.92 m and graded 6.94 grams per tonne gold and 7.66 g/t silver.
The company's 2019 sampling and mapping program will be concentrating on the Ulu fold gold occurrences with particular focus on the Bizen and Apex veins. Compilations of the historical and Blue Star's sample assays from these on-strike zones have been encouraging. This year's surface sampling and mapping work will be used for siting future diamond drill targets.
The current diamond drilling is in-filling and expanding previous high-grade results. BHP tested the NFN with five diamond drill holes in 1990 and 1991. Diamond drill hole 90VD-81 intersected the NFN on the east fold limb and returned 6.03 m grading 7.31 g/t Au, including 25.63 g/t Au over 1.54 m at a vertical depth of 60 m. Drill hole 91VD-111 was drilled underneath 90VD-81 the following year and returned 9.16 g/t Au over 6.88 m, including 54.94 g/t Au over 0.95 m and 0.25 m grading 18.2 g/t Au at a vertical depth of 95 m below surface. Blue Star recognizes the NFN as an excellent priority candidate among the others for the company's comprehensive program of highly detailed geological mapping and sampling of the surface showings with the complementary 2019 drilling program.

OSISKO INTERSECTS BONANZA GRADES AT LYNX EXTENSION AND TRIPLE LYNX
Osisko Mining Inc. has provided new drilling results from the continuing definition and expansion drill program at its 100-per-cent-owned Windfall gold project located in the Abitibi greenstone belt, Urban township, Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec.
The program is currently focused on infill drilling at the Lynx deposit, exploration and expansion drilling on the main mineralized zones, and deep exploration in the central areas of the mineralized intrusive system. Sixteen drills are active at Lynx and Triple Lynx, with another seven drills conducting infill and exploration drilling on other areas of the deposit.
Osisko president and chief executive officer John Burzynski commented: "The continued flow of strong results from Lynx is making us rethink our approach to the Windfall deposit. We continue to see good continuity of high-grade mineralization at Lynx and now Triple Lynx, and both zones remain open for expansion down plunge. The Lynx extension and Triple Lynx are adding important ounces and these two recent discoveries are once again demonstrating the importance of the Lynx corridor in the Windfall mineralized system."

Syrah Resources share price crashes 41% lower on operational update
James Mickleboro | September 10, 2019
In morning trade the Syrah Resources Ltd (ASX: SYR) share price has crashed to an all-time low following the release of a market and operational update.
At the time of writing the Syrah share price is down a massive 41% to 41.5 cents.
What was in the update?
According to the release, Syrah has witnessed a sudden and material decrease in spot natural flake graphite prices in China recently. This has impacted price negotiations and contract renewals, with potential for further weakening of prices into the fourth quarter of 2019.
In response to this, Syrah intends to cut its production materially in the fourth quarter to just ~5kt per month. This equates to 60kt on annualised basis, compared to its calendar year target of 200kt to 245kt.
The reduced volumes will allow the company to focus on further increasing fixed carbon grade and product quality to develop value in use differentiation.
Management also advised that it will perform an immediate review of further structural cost reductions at the Balama Graphite Operation and across the company. After which, it will conduct a strategic and operational review for 2020. The details of this will be provided with Syrah’s third quarter update which is scheduled to be released on October 22.
Speaking of which, at this stage, management expects its third quarter production and sales volume to be approximately 45kt with a weighted average price received of ~US$400 a tonne, down from US$457 a tonne in the second quarter.
If the company’s C1 operating cash cost of production is the same as it was in the first half (US$567 a tonne), then Syrah will be making a sizeable loss on each tonne it produces.
The company’s managing director and CEO, Shaun Verner, said, “In response to the sudden and material decrease in spot graphite prices impacting price negotiations and contract renewals, we have taken immediate action to reduce our production volumes in Q4 2019 to levels sufficient to maintain operations and continue our production optimisation activities. During this period, we will focus on further increases to product grade and consistency to drive our product differentiation. Although a difficult decision, we believe that this action is in the best interests of shareholders to preserve long term value.”

GOGOLD DRILLS 20.1M AVERAGING 3.28 G/T AND GAINS ACCESS TO UNDERGROUND AT LOS RICOS AND COMPLETES CHANNEL SAMPLING
GoGold Resources Inc. has released assay results from four new diamond drill holes at the Los Ricos main area. Drill holes LRGG-19-034 to 37 were drilled to test the Los Ricos vein in an area of known underground workings.
Hole LRGG-19-034 intersected 22.5 metres of the Los Ricos vein from 103.5 to 126.0 m down the hole but a total of 2.4 m of the vein was mined out and the stopes were backfilled (and assigned zero grade). The remaining unmined 20.1 m of the Los Ricos vein averaged 3.28 grams per tonne gold equivalent made up of 0.92 g/t gold and 177.2 g/t silver; including a 4.9 m interval averaging 11.68 g/t gold equivalent made up of 3.41 g/t gold and 620.7 g/t silver on the hangingwall of the open stope.
Hole LRGG-19-035 intersected 24.4 m of the Los Ricos vein from 119.9 to 144.3 m down the hole and it averaged 2.99 g/t gold equivalent made up of 1.29 g/t gold and 127.4 g/t silver; including a 9.8 m interval averaging 6.44 gold equivalent made up of 3.00 g/t gold and 258.0 g/t silver.
"We are continuing to see wide zones of silver-gold mineralization on both the hanging wall and footwall of the historical stopes as we test both down dip and along strike in the Main area of the Los Ricos zone. We have been able to re-enter and channel sample some of the historical workings known as El Troce located 400 m to the northwest of El Abra and have moved the drill to test this target," stated Brad Langille, president and chief executive officer.
Osisko Mining Inc. has provided an update on the Discovery 1 drill hole. Discovery 1's principal exploration target is the interpreted outer shell and centre of a possible porphyry intrusion feeding the Windfall-Lynx gold system, at depths of approximately 3,000 metres to 3,500 metres from surface. The drill hole was designed to also target potential depth extensions of two known mineralized zones (the Underdog Zone and Triple 8 Zone). Preliminary results from Discovery 1 include intersections from the targeted Underdog and Triple 8 extensions, noted below. Approximately 2,300 metres down-hole length has been completed, with approximately 1,200 metres left to reach the principal exploration targets.

PROJECT CAPEX AND FINANCIAL UPDATE
Mason Graphite’s construction team has updated the Project capital expenditures estimate (“CAPEX”) to account for recent changes to the Project including, design improvements, additional environmental constraints, additional pre-production and commissioning costs, updated quantities (materials and construction labour) and general cost escalation (past and future). Contingency estimates have also been revised accordingly. The net effect of the updated CAPEX estimates result in revised capital cost of $258M (as compared to the 2017 estimated CAPEX of $200M).
