(TSX: GCM) announced today that it produced a total of 39,008 ounces of gold in the first quarter of 2017, up 24% over the first quarter last year. With the trailing 12 months' total gold production as of the end of March 2017 increasing 5% over 2016's annual production to 157,227 ounces, the Company remains on track with its production guidance for the 2017 calendar year of a total of 150,000 to 160,000 ounces.
At the Segovia Operations, a 19% increase in tonnes processed and improved mill recovery were the key drivers behind a 26% year-over-year increase in its first quarter 2017 gold production to 32,768 ounces. James Kwantes, in the March 22, 2017, edition of Resource Opportunities, refreshes his buy of Stornoway Diamond Corp., recently 94 cents. Mr. Kwantes said buy on May 29, 2016, at 98 cents, and on Dec. 11, 2016, at $1. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the two buys, the $2,000 position is now worth $1,898. Stornoway's stock recently jumped thanks to the Washington Group's $1.1-billion (U.S.) hostile takeover offer for another diamond company, Dominion Diamond. Mr. Kwantes says this offer could "shake up Canada's diamond industry." It has certainly shaken up Stornoway's shares, which were as high as $1.30 on Oct. 24, 2016, but were just 87 cents the day before the offer for Dominion arrived. As a result of a review by the British Columbia Securities Commission, Transatlantic Mining Corp. is issuing the following news release to clarify its disclosure. The review and disclosure are based on the National Instrument 43-101 and preliminary economic assessment report titled "The mineral resource and preliminary economic assessment at the U.S. Grant mine property, Virginia City, Madison county, Montana, U.S., dated Dec. 9, 2016."
The current technical report as stated is not compliant with the requirements of National Instrument 43-101, and investors should not rely on the results of the preliminary economic assessment until a compliant report is filed.
