Atico Mining loses $470,246 (U.S.) in Q2 2015

2015-08-24 16:55 ET - News Release

Mr. Fernando Ganoza reports

ATICO REPORTS CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL RESULTS FOR THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2015

Atico Mining Corp. has released its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2015, posting income from operations of $507,601 and net loss of $470,246. All amounts are expressed in U.S. dollars, unless otherwise stated.

Fernando E. Ganoza, CEO, commented, "In the second quarter the operation results were a significant improvement over the same period last year. This however did not reflect in the financial results mainly due to only one shipment of concentrate scheduled for the quarter at which point revenue is recognized." Mr. Ganoza continued, "The operation was cash flow positive during the quarter and the first half of the year, and we expect to continue to strengthen our balance sheet during the remainder of the year. We anticipate a strong third quarter both financially and in terms of production results."

Second Quarter Financial Highlights

-- Net loss for the three months ended June 30, 2015 amounted to $470,246, compared with a loss of $205,712 for the same period last year.
-- Sales for the quarter decreased 18% to $6.12 million when compared with same period last year. The decrease is due to lower realized prices and lower metal content in the concentrate, partially offset by a modest increase in concentrate shipped. Copper accounted for 85.3% of the total, and gold and silver for 14.6% and 0.1% respectively. The average realized price per metal on provisional invoicing was $2.56 per pound ("lbs") of copper, $1,165.73 per ounce ("oz") of gold and $15.57 per ounce of silver.
-- Cash costs (1) were $104.4 per tonne of processed ore and $1.16 per pound of payable copper produced, a 14.8% increase over the same period last year's cash cost per pound of payable copper.
-- Income from operations was $507,601 while cash flow from operations, before changes in working capital was $2.08 million. Capital expenditures amounted to $1.65 million.
-- At the quarter-end, 3,919 wet metric tonnes of non-invoiced concentrate remained at the Company's warehouses.

Second Quarter Operations Review

In the quarter, the Company produced 2.9 million lbs of copper, 2,298 oz of gold and 6,941 oz of silver. When compared to same period last year, production increased 41%, 7%, and 4% for copper, gold and silver, respectively. Cash costs (1) for the period were $104.4 per tonne of processed ore, and $1.16 per pound of payable copper produced, a 6.4% decrease in the cost per tonne and a 14.8% increase in the cash cost per pound over the same period last year. The increase in the cash cost (1) per pound of payable copper net of by products is mainly explained by a reduced contribution of gold and silver credits due to lower prices and comparatively less metal produced. This effect was partially offset by the lower cash cost per processed tonne.

True Gold Mining Reports Q2 2015 Financial & Operating Results

http://www.juniorminingnetwork.com/junior-miner-news/press-releases/383-tsx-venture/tgm/10809-true-gold-mining-reports-q2-2015-financial-amp-operating-results.html#.VdxEivl4bVY

A Novel And Defensive Way To Invest In Gold Mining

Summary

Peru is formalizing small-scale mining. Toll milling is a novel business model promising profitable investment opportunities.
There are a number of companies establishing themselves in this sector.
This article presents a short review, and our personal pick.

Estimates vary, but a surprisingly high percentage of 15% to 25% of world gold production stems from small-scale and artisanal mining activities. As opposed to industrial operations, artisanal mining refers to mining activities that use rudimentary methods to extract ore and process minerals and metals, often in an uncontrolled manner and beyond any regulatory framework. In most cases, these small-scale mining activities create environmental and social problems driven by unregulated working conditions, questionable trading practices, and oftentimes the influence of organized crime.

The small-scale mining sector releases more noxious mercury into the environment worldwide than any other industry. Many artisanal gold miners combine mercury with gold-bearing material and the mercury binds to the gold. Evaporating the mercury with blowtorches or over ovens leaves small gold pieces behind. According to the UN Environmental Protection Agency, small-scale mining releases no less than 400 tonnes of airborne mercury each year worldwide. The mercury fumes are either inhaled, or escape to settle in the surrounding environment. Elementary mercury transforms into methylmercury, an especially dangerous neuro-toxin which accumulates in the food chain.
Formalization Process in Peru

Peru is one of many countries where such small-scale mining activities have a long-standing tradition and the Peruvian government estimates that approximately 20% of the country's gold exports originate from such unregulated mining activities. The government defines artisanal mining as operating in less than 1,000 hectares of space and excavating less than 25 tonnes of ore per day. While providing a livelihood for an estimated 100,000 to 300,000 artisanal miners in Peru alone, small-scale mining is costing the government an estimated $630 million in lost tax revenue per year.

In 2012, the Peruvian government issued legislation to regulate, or in the government's diction "to formalize," the small-scale mining sector. Besides issuing environmental and work place regulations, the ultimate goal of the Government was to keep track of artisanal operations and to collect taxes. Among other actions to facilitate the new regime, the government provided a framework for permitting small-scale mills with a capacity of up to 350 tpd. Mills of this size can be permitted by local government in a relatively uncomplicated process, and existing mills can maintain operations while this process takes place.
The Opportunity

Small-scale miners are now required to process their ore exclusively at permitted mills, which has created an entirely new toll-milling sub-sector in the Peruvian gold mining space. Operating a mill and processing ore delivered to the mill by small-scale miners can be a lucrative business that carries less risk than full-scale gold mining. A number of companies have made early starts to take advantage of this opportunity, some of them privately owned and also a number of listed public companies. The latter have the advantage of being able to access capital more easily which is needed to build new mills or upgrade existing ones, and to maintain sufficient working capital levels to bridge the time gap between ore delivery and gold sales.

Typically, ore is delivered to a mill and assayed to determine the grade within a short time. The miner delivering the gold is paid depending on the gold contained in the ore, at a discount to the prevailing gold price. The mill operator then processes the ore and sells the gold into the spot market. This eliminates all risk factors associated with mining and exploration from the toll milling business model, and leaves only the risks associated with processing and selling the ore to the mill operator.

Dynacor Gold Mines (OTC:DNGDF) is the clear front-runner in the Peruvian toll milling business. This company has pursued the business model for several years quite successfully and has been generating steady cash flows from its 250 tpd Huanca mill. Dynacor is presently working towards opening its second Chala mill which should boost total capacity to 600 tpd before long.

Dynacor Gold Mines is a self-funding exploration company using the cash generated from toll milling to fund exploration and development of its Tumipampa project. Dynacor investors essentially buy exposure to exploration success and not the toll milling business model, and an investment decision should therefore be made with regards to judgment on the merits of the Tumipampa project and not the toll milling venture.

A number of companies are available for pure-play exposure to the toll milling business model, all of them still with very small market capitalization. Investments in such micro-caps have their own inherent challenges, risks and opportunities.

Anthem United (OTC:ATHTF) is cooperating with a local Peruvian private company in the development of its Koricancha mill, and is also in the process of financing its second Chaparra mill. Both these mills are located near Arequipa in Southern Peru. Standard Tolling (TSX.V ticker TON) is the only public company active in Northern Peru and is finalizing development of its 150 tpd La Libertad mill, and Montan Mining (OTC:SAIDD) is working towards acquisition of the Mollehuaca plant and the mining rights for the nearby Eladium gold mine again near Arequipa in Southern Peru.

Inca One (OTCPK:INCAF) has already brought its Chala One mill into production at a 100 tpd run rate and has started to generate cash flow from this operation. Expansion of this plant to 250 tpd, and acquisition of additional mills is next on the agenda. Management has delivered on every milestone so far, and this gives credibility to the company's stated goal of bringing four toll milling facilities into production within the next three years.

Inca One is our personal pick of the bunch for exposure to the Peruvian toll milling business model. We believe that Inca One represents an attractive early mover investment opportunity in a quickly developing new niche of the gold mining sector that is both profitable and sheltered from certain risks. We have established contact with management and have found them very accommodating with our requests for information. Detailed coverage of this company will be provided on our subscription service Itinerant Musings going forward, and we would like to cordially invite interested readers to join and participate in this service.

Rotary air blast (RAB) drilling conducted 300 metres west of the Anubis zone intersected 47.24 m of 3.79 grams per tonne (g/t) gold (ARB-15-026) at what is now called the Orion target;
Gold mineralization in hole ARB-15-026 starting at 15.24 m and continuously mineralized to the bottom of the hole;
The Orion discovery hole is the only RAB hole in the area that was drilled north into an extensive and pyritic siltstone unit;
Diamond drilling at the Conrad zone intersects 124.96 m of 3.02 g/t gold and confirms continuity of mineralization in the Upper and Middle Conrad zones.

Anubis Cluster RAB drilling

Atac recently completed a six-week RAB drilling program at the 18-square-kilometre Anubis Cluster located 10 km west of the Osiris cluster of gold zones. The 2015 RAB drilling program achieved its objective of cost-effectively identifying bedrock sources of gold that are likely responsible for the adjacent surface geochemical anomalies. Numerous targets remain untested within the Anubis Cluster.

"The Orion discovery hole is the most significant drill intersection to date within the 18-square-kilometre Anubis Cluster of targets. This hole is particularly significant as it demonstrates the exploration potential of the 30 km long Nadaleen trend which is developing into a major North American Carlin-type district," stated Graham Downs, president and chief executive officer of Atac. "Our inaugural RAB drilling program has proven to be a very effective and low-cost exploration tool that has allowed us to make meaningful progress under challenging market conditions. The RAB drill will continue to be integral in testing new and existing exploration targets and supporting future diamond drill programs."

Orion target

The Orion target is located 300 m west of the Anubis discovery hole An-12-001 (8.51 m of 19.85 g/t gold) in an area of strongly anomalous gold-in-soil geochemical response that had not been previously drill tested. Mineralization at Orion occurs in both a debris flow-bearing fossiliferous limestone and a variably calcareous pyritic siltstone, but is most prevalent in a highly deformed and fractured structural setting in the hangingwall pyritic siltstone assemblage where a secondary crossfault intersects the Anubis fault. Five RAB holes were drilled from the same drill pad setup as ARB-15-026, but ARB-15-026 was the only hole oriented north to test the pyritic siltstone. ARB-15-026 bottomed in gold mineralization.

Mapping and prospecting in the Anubis area suggest that the pyritic siltstone that hosts the most significant mineralization at Orion is a regionally extensive unit and is in contact with the Anubis fault for a strike length of over 1.5 km. An updated Orion target area map and RAB drill photo are available on Atac's website.

Conrad zone

One diamond drill hole was completed at the Conrad zone in 2015. Hole OS-15-231 was specifically drilled to: test a possible link between the Conrad Upper and Middle zones; determine the continuity of mineralization within the Upper and Middle zones; better understand the favourable near-vertical contact zone between limestone and siltstone; and step out from Conrad Lower zone mineralization discovered in hole OS-14-230 which returned 42.67 m of 3.03 g/t gold and 21.71 m of 3.15 g/t gold in 2014.

Hole OS-15-231 successfully demonstrated the potential for mineralization between the Upper and Middle Conrad zone (10.66 m of 1.78 g/t gold and 12.45 m of 2.52 g/t gold). In addition, the hole indicates that both the limestone and siltstone are mineralized in the vicinity of the near-vertical contact between the two rock units.

The Middle zone was intersected as a broad mineralized interval that returned 124.96 m of 3.02 g/t gold. Higher-grade intervals such as 9.27 m of 8.71 g/t gold, represent the intersection of the limestone/siltstone contact with flat-lying mineralized faults.

Due to technical complications, the hole was lost within the mineralized limestone/siltstone contact corridor at 482.50 m, approximately 170 m short of the expected Lower zone target.

"We are very encouraged by the discovery of significant new mineralization at the Orion target in the Anubis Cluster. The discovery demonstrates the considerable potential of the pyritic siltstone to host significant gold mineralization," stated Julia Lane, vice-president, exploration, of Atac Resources. "While our 2015 drilling at the Conrad zone was unsuccessful in reaching the anticipated Lower zone target, we gained valuable geologic and mineralogical information that will continue to guide Atac's three-dimensional modelling of the Conrad zone."

Rau trend

Phase 2 exploration is currently continuing within the Rau trend and consists of: regional sampling to follow-up on encouraging results from a widely spaced sampling program (see Atac news release dated Jan. 23, 2013) and optimization work recommended in the Tiger deposit preliminary economic assessment (see Atac news release dated July 23, 2014). The results from this phase will be released when available.

QA/QC (quality assurance/quality control)

Diamond drill samples were forwarded to ALS Minerals in Whitehorse, Yukon, where they were fine crushed before a 250-gram split was pulverized to better than 85 per cent passing 75 microns. The pulverizing circuit was cleaned with quartz sand twice between samples. Pulps were then analyzed at ALS Minerals in North Vancouver, B.C., where gold determinations were carried out. Splits of the pulverized fraction were dissolved using a multiacid digestion and analyzed for 49 elements using inductively coupled plasma (ICP) together with mass spectrometry (MS) and atomic emission spectroscopy (AES). Gold analyses were by the Au-AA26 procedure that involves fire assay preparation using a 50-gram charge with an atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) finish. Mercury analyses were digested with aqua regia and analyzed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).

Rigorous procedures are in place regarding sample collection, chain of custody and data entry. Certified assay standards, duplicate samples and blanks are routinely inserted into the sample stream of diamond drill samples to ensure integrity of the assay process. All diamond drill samples included in this news release have passed the QA/QC procedures as described above.

RAB drilling is a very effective exploration tool, but does not provide the detailed level of geological and structural information as does diamond drilling. Accordingly, RAB drilling is primarily used as an early- to intermediate-stage exploration tool and the results cannot be used for the purposes of NI 43-101 mineral resource estimates.

The technical information in this news release has been approved by Julia Lane, PGeo, vice-president, exploration, for Atac and a qualified person for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101.

Rookie schrieb am 25.08.2015, 20:32 Uhr[/url]"]A Novel And Defensive Way To Invest In Gold Mining

GPM Metals, Goldeye start survey at Weebigee

2015-08-27 07:38 ET - News Release

Also News Release (C-GGY) Goldeye Explorations Ltd (2)

Mr. Dan Noone of GPM Metals reports

GPM METALS INC. PROVIDES AN EXPLORATION UPDATE OF THE WEEBIGEE AND SANDY LAKE EAST GOLD PROJECT

GPM Metals Inc. and Goldeye Explorations Ltd. have commenced an airborne high-resolution VTEM survey with 200-metre-line spacing over 1,264 line kilometres at the Weebigee property and the adjoining recently staked ground, consisting of approximately 6,500 hectares in total.

GPM Metals is the operator of the project.

The helicopter airborne EM and horizontal magnetic gradiometer survey will assist the company in identifying geological structures and conductors that may indicate prospective diamond drill targets.

This survey will be undertaken by Geotech Ltd. of Aurora, Ont.

The company also reports that a four-man geological prospecting crew has been ground truthing, sampling and mapping in the Sandborn Bay area since mid-June of this year.

The prospecting field crew is scheduled to relocate their exploration camp to the eastern section of Sandy Lake within the next seven days to continue their early-stage reconnaissance fieldwork and sampling.

GPM and Goldeye wish to thank the first nation communities of Sandy Lake and Keewaywin for their co-operation and logistical support of this continuing mineral exploration program.

About Weebigee

Weebigee is a high-grade gold project located near Sandy Lake, approximately 225 kilometres north of Red Lake and 200 kilometres west of Goldcorp's Musselwhite mine in Northwestern Ontario. The project comprises a 100-per-cent interest in 225 contiguous claims (363 claim units) covering approximately 6,000 hectares in the highly prospective and underexplored Sandy Lake greenstone belt. Certain of the claims are subject to a 1-per-cent net-smelter-return royalty. The project has a very promising potential based on its greenstone geology and known mineralization showings. Weebigee lies within the traditional territory of Sandy Lake First Nation, with which Goldeye signed a comprehensive exploration agreement in 2013.

All scientific and technical information in this news release has been prepared under the supervision of Dan Noone (vice-president, exploration, and a director of GPM), a qualified person within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Noone (BSc (geology), MBA) is a member of the Australian Institute of Mines and Metallurgy.
