Quaterra drills 521.9 ft of 0.36% Cu at Bear deposit

2016-02-08 08:40 ET - News Release

Mr. Thomas Patton reports

QUATERRA RELEASES RESULTS OF THIRD DRILL HOLE AT BEAR COPPER DEPOSIT, YERINGTON, NEVADA

Quaterra Resources Inc. and its subsidiary Singatse Peak Services LLC have released results from hole B-050, the third core hole of a drill program to explore and further define the Bear deposit, a large porphyry copper system on the company's 52-square-mile property in the historic Yerington copper district of Nevada. The drill program is being financed with option payments to SPS by Freeport-McMoRan Nevada LLC.

Highlights

Hole B-050, drilled vertically to a depth of 3,838 feet, intercepted 521.9 feet (159.1 metres) of 0.36 per cent copper beginning at a depth of 2,429.2 feet. Included within this interval is 279.3 feet (85.1 metres) of 0.44 per cent copper starting at 2,491.4 feet. A 6.1-foot (1.9-metre) interval of massive pyrite-magnetite-chalcopyrite skarn starting at 2,330.5 feet averages 1.91 per cent copper, 0.22 part per million gold and 5.7 ppm silver. This hole extends the Bear mineralized system an additional 650 feet north of the nearest historic drill hole.

Discussion

Hole B-050, collared 1,050 feet north-northeast of hole B-048, is the third hole of an exploration program designed to corroborate historic assay results, determine geologic controls for higher-grade mineralization and attempt to extend higher-grade mineralization to the north. Copper mineralization starting at a depth of 2,429.2 feet occurs in typical porphyry copper-style, potassically altered quartz monzonite with small amounts of molybdenite. The thickness of the mineralized intercept is similar to those in adjacent historic drill holes.

The significance of the narrow zone of higher-grade copper-gold-silver mineralization occurring above the main mineralized interval is unknown. The skarn is bracketed by quartz porphyry dikes and quartz veining and is part of a larger zone characterized by pyrite and magnetite veining, weakly anomalous gold and potassic alteration. All of these features are guides to mineralization elsewhere in the district.

Hole B-051, the fourth of the current drill program and located 1,150 feet east of hole B-049, is in progress. Hole locations are shown on a map available on Quaterra's website. A video of the current drill program at the Bear deposit is available for viewing on the company website. Further results will be reported when available.

For background on the Bear deposit, Quaterra's Yerington project and the option agreement with Freeport Nevada please see the news release dated Nov. 17, 2015, or visit the company website.

Quality assurance and control

Core samples were either sawed or split by SPS personnel in Yerington, Nev., and shipped to Bureau Veritas Minerals NA -- Inspectorate America Corp., an ISO-certified assaying/geochemistry facility, in Reno, Nev., for sample preparation. Gold analyses are assayed in Bureau Veritas's lab in Reno using its FA430 procedure (fire assay with atomic absorption finish) with a five-part-per-billion Au detection limit. Prepared pulps are shipped to Bureau Veritas's lab in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, for analysis using its MA 300 procedure for 35-element ICP-ES analysis. Commercially prepared standards and blanks are inserted by SPS at 50-foot intervals to insure precision of results as a quality control measure. SPS has a chain-of-custody program to ensure sample security during all stages of sample collection, cutting, shipping and storage.

Technical information in this news release has been approved by Dr. Thomas Patton, PhD, the president and chief executive officer of the company, and a qualified person as defined in NI 43-101.

Mr. Thomas Patton reports

QUATERRA RELEASES RESULTS OF SECOND DRILL HOLE AT BEAR COPPER DEPOSIT, YERINGTON, NEVADA

Quaterra Resources Inc. and its subsidiary Singatse Peak Services LLC have released results from hole B-049, the second core hole of a drill program to explore and further define the Bear deposit, a large porphyry copper system on the company's 52-square-mile property in the historic Yerington copper district of Nevada. The drill program is being financed with option payments to SPS by Freeport-McMoRan Nevada LLC.

Highlights

Hole B-049, drilled vertically to a depth of 3,635 feet, intercepted 1,138 feet (407.9 metres) of 0.26 per cent copper beginning at a depth of 1,588 feet. Higher-grade mineralization, although present, is restricted to narrow zones varying from three to 5.5 feet in width. This hole extends an already large mineralized system an additional 770 feet to the north. Additional drilling, geology and geophysics are necessary to understand the controls for higher-grade mineralization.

"This is the first step-out hole of our current drilling campaign, and we are pleased with the length of the mineralized intercept, which extends the Bear system an additional 770 feet to the north. The location of higher-grade mineralization in this area is also an important goal of the current program," said Quaterra president and chief executive officer Thomas Patton.

Discussion

Hole B-049, collared 771 feet north of historic Hole B-22, is the second hole of an exploration program designed to corroborate historic assay results, determine geologic controls for higher-grade mineralization and attempt to extend higher-grade mineralization to the north as suggested by grade thickness contouring of historic drilling. The thickness of the altered and mineralized zone in hole B-049 suggests that the Bear system continues to the north and is a large system. Intervals of higher-grade chalcopyrite mineralization (plus 0.7 per cent copper) are associated with silicification and quartz veining ranging in width from three feet to 5.5 feet and averaging from 0.72 per cent to 1.38 per cent copper.

The location of significant higher-grade intervals within this large system is one of the objectives of the continuing drill program. To assist in this effort, an IP line to identify possible deep zones of sulphide mineralization was completed on Dec. 18. Results will be available in January.

Hole B-050, located 1,050 feet north-northeast of hole B-048, is in progress. Drilling has been suspended for the Christmas holidays and will resume on Jan. 7, 2016. Hole locations are shown on a map available on Quaterra's website. A video of the current drill program at the Bear deposit is available for viewing on the company website. Further results will be reported when available.

For background on the Bear deposit, Quaterra's Yerington project and the option agreement with Freeport Nevada please see the previous news release dated Nov. 17, 2015, or visit the company website.

Taseko expects to receive Gibraltar power cost deferral

2016-02-09 07:52 ET - News Release

Mr. Russell Hallbauer reports

TASEKO EXPECTS TO RECEIVE POWER COST DEFERRAL FOR GIBRALTAR MINE

Taseko Mines Ltd.'s Gibraltar mine expects to benefit from a five-year power rate deferral program announced by the British Columbia government.

"Electricity is one of Gibraltar's most significant expenses, accounting for nearly 10 per cent of the mine's total operating costs," said Russell Hallbauer, president and chief executive officer of Taseko. "This cost deferral program has the potential to reduce Gibraltar's annual spending by up to $20-million, or roughly 15 cents per pound of copper production, at the current copper price of approximately $2.10 (U.S.) per pound, effective this month."

Details of the program, which would be delivered through the province's Crown corporation BC Hydro, remain to be disclosed. Taseko will provide additional information with regard to its Gibraltar electricity costs after Taseko has signed a deferral agreement with BC Hydro.

Saturn Minerals discovers oil at Bannock Creek

2016-02-09 10:53 ET - News Release

Mr. Stan Szary reports

SATURN MINERALS INC. ANNOUNCES OIL DISCOVERY AT BANNOCK CREEK PROJECT IN NORTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN

Saturn Minerals Inc. has made a new oil discovery in three separate potential pay zones at its 100-per-cent-owned 9A-5-44-8W2 well on its Bannock Creek project located near the town of Hudson Bay in northeast Saskatchewan. The discovery has been made in conjunction with technical teams from North Rim Exploration Ltd. and Axiom Exploration Ltd., both of Saskatoon, Sask.

As previously announced, drilling of the 9A-5 well had commenced on Jan. 7 and had reached a total depth of 583 metres before technical difficulties related to wellbore stability and lost circulation were encountered. In consultation with its technical team, the company elected to redesign the casing configuration and drill process. The second well was spudded on Jan. 29 and reached a target depth of 740 metres in eight days without incident, including 1.5 days to core and log. A total of 27 metres of core was cut with full recovery through all target zones.

Within the target Herald and Yeoman formations, three separate intercepts displayed pronounced and uniform oil staining and fluorescence under black light. These intercepts were subsequently cross-referenced to match down-hole resistivity logs and porosity logs greater than 12 per cent. The discovery was made in three separate formations: the Herald, the Upper Yeoman and the Lower Yeoman for a cumulative potential reservoir thickness of eight metres. The presence of these stacked pay zones supports the company's exploration model of a stacked target, four-way closed anticlinal potential oil reservoir.

Drill core has been sent to Core Labs of Estevan, Sask., where a full analysis of the discovery, including permeability, porosity, oil saturation and API, will determine a comprehensive completions program. Results are expected by mid-February following which the company will announce a completions plan that will include test production and an additional well site to further assess the 480-acre anticlinal target which was the focus of this drill program. This additional well will aid the company in evaluating future vertical and/or horizontal wells in order to maximize the exploitation of known reservoirs, as well as to further assess additional undrilled targets on the 120,000-acre Bannock Creek project.

"This discovery is a true historical milestone for northeastern Saskatchewan," said Stan Szary, chief executive officer of Saturn Minerals Inc. "The Northeastern Williston basin is a wildcat driller's paradise, and we've shown that with the discovery of oil in the very first well that has successfully penetrated beyond 650 metres in this vicinity. I'm very proud of our team and believe that this is the start of a very significant update to the entire geological map of this part of the province."

Saturn identified the well location from a 2-D seismic program, which was designed to identify and confirm closures for potential light oil traps. The closure of this structure compared very favourably with existing producing light oil pools to the south of the Bannock Creek project and provided validation of Saturn's exploration model.

Im Grunde macht Arnold das PP eigentlich fast alleine bei Loncor!

Arnold T. Kondrat | Executive Vice-President

Banro’s principal founder, Arnold is the Executive Vice-President of the Corporation and has been involved in corporate finance activities for over 20 years. He is also President and Managing Director of Sterling Portfolio Securities Inc., a private venture capital firm based in Toronto.

Loncor Resources arranges $1-million financing

2016-02-09 14:03 ET - News Release

Mr. Arnold Kondrat reports

LONCOR ANNOUNCES PRIVATE PLACEMENT OF COMMON SHARES

Loncor Resources Inc. has arranged non-brokered private placement of up to 67 million common shares of the company at a price of 1.5 cents per common share for gross proceeds of up to $1,005,000.

Arnold Kondrat, the president, chief executive officer and a director of the company, will be subscribing for 60 million common shares pursuant to the offering. Mr. Kondrat currently holds 14,300,818 (16.9 per cent) of the issued and outstanding common shares and upon closing of the offering he will hold 74,300,818 (49.1 per cent of the common shares issued and outstanding assuming the full offering is completed).

Closing of the offering is subject to receipt of all necessary corporate and regulatory approvals, including the approval of the Toronto Stock Exchange. All securities issued in connection with the offering will be subject to a statutory hold period of four months plus a day from the date of issuance in accordance with applicable securities legislation. The proceeds of the offering will be used to: (i) repay short-term, non-interest-bearing loans totalling $825,000 provided to the company by Mr. Kondrat; and (ii) pay corporate and public company costs of the company for the next six months (such costs will include normal operating costs including legal and auditor fees). Over the past two years, Mr. Kondrat provided several critical loans to the company, a major portion of which were used to sustain the company's operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Moving forward to assist the company further and subject to TSX approval, Mr. Kondrat has agreed to provide a $240,000 line of credit until such time additional financing can be secured.

The offering will ordinarily require shareholder approval under the requirements of the TSX because it will materially affect control of the company through the issuance of the common shares to Mr. Kondrat, will result in the issuance of common shares of the company to the subscribers in excess of 25 per cent of the number of currently issued and outstanding common shares and will result in an issuance of common shares in excess of 10 per cent to insiders. In this regard, the number of common shares that will be: (i) issuable to the subscribers will be 67 million, representing approximately 79.35 per cent of the number of currently issued and outstanding common shares; and (ii) issuable to insiders will be 60 million, representing approximately 71.06 per cent of the number of currently issued and outstanding common shares.

The company is in serious financial difficulty as a result of the decline in gold prices over the last several years and the corresponding inability of the company to secure sufficient third party financing over the last 24 months in the current difficult market conditions. Given the situation, the company has immediate capital needs and cannot finance its current obligations.

Pursuant to Section 604(e) of the TSX Company Manual, the company has applied for an exemption from the shareholder approval requirements of the TSX, on the basis of financial hardship, given that the company is in serious financial difficulty and the immediacy of the company's need to address its capital obligations through the offering does not afford it sufficient time or finance a special shareholders meeting.

The company's management and the board of directors expect the offering to provide the necessary available financing to address the company's financial difficulties, including the sustaining of the company for approximately six months of operations. In addition, the company plans to seek additional financing to finance its longer term objectives and operations.

The board of directors of the company has determined that the proposed offering is fair to, and in the best interests of, the shareholders of the company.

TSX delisting review

The TSX has placed the company under remedial delisting review because the company did not meet the TSX's requirements with respect to the company's working capital position and market capitalization. The company has requested that it be provided additional time to regain compliance with the continued listing requirements of the TSX. There is no guarantee that completion of the offering will satisfy the continued listing requirements of the TSX. If the TSX determines to delist the common shares of Loncor, the company will seek a listing on the TSX Venture Exchange.
