The initial tranche of the financing will be to procure initial mobile equipment for construction valued at approximately US$5 million, and is expected to be available upon the delivery of the equipment in June 2008. Their extensive branch network in Quebec, including their Val-d'Or location, will minimize our investment in working capital. We will also be able to benefit from Hewitt technical expertise and Caterpillar's training experience to maximize our productivity and minimize our operating costs. We also appreciate the confidence that Cat Financial has in our Project and our people in funding our mining equipment fleet. This agreement ensures that Osisko will have the necessary equipment to fast-track the development of the Project, in accordance with the schedule outlined in the Preliminary Assessment Report issued on March 31, 2008."

Mr. Jim Hewitt, President and CEO of Hewitt Equipment, noted: "It is both an honour and a privilege for Hewitt Equipment to be associated with Osisko Exploration, an organization who will operate the largest open-pit gold mine in Quebec. Osisko's high standards of professionalism and respect for people, for the environment and for the community are values that are very much aligned with those of Hewitt Equipment.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the economic development of the Abitibi Region, a very dynamic part of the province of Quebec, and to further reinforce our presence in this area, particularly in Malartic and Val-d'Or."

Scorpio Commences Production Mining at the Nuestra Senora Project, Mexico
SCORPIO MINING CORP SPM
4/24/2008 8:06:43 AM
VANCOUVER, Apr 24, 2008 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX News Network) --

TSX:SPM

Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSX:SPM) is pleased to announce the commencement of production mining from the first stope in the Hoag Zone at its 100% owned Nuestra Senora project, Sinaloa State, Mexico. The Hoag Zone has been developed on three levels and stope preparation is virtually complete for long-hole mining.

The first long-hole production blast in Block 10-15 of the Hoag zone was completed on Friday April 18, 2008, and since then long-hole drilling has been completed for the entire block. With this first production blast, block 10-15 is now open on its full width of 20 metres. It is located between levels 10 and 10.5 and contains a total of 21,298 metric tonnes (MT). The first blast of this stope provides an extra 3,866 MT to the stockpiles, which currently contain 79,000 MT. A second stope from the Hoag zone, Block 10-13, is ready and will eventually provide to the operation another 30,804 MT.

Peter J. Hawley, Chairman, CEO comments, "The first long-hole production blast in Block 10-15 represents one more important benchmark the Company has achieved according to schedule and within budget. The development in ore has confirmed the continuity and homogeneity of the mineralization within the Hoag Zone and supports our planned mining method. The production ore will be transported to the current Stockpile No. 2 at the mill site, which will be processed following mill commissioning from development ore in Stockpile No. 1. In addition to the Hoag Zone, development and stope preparation is ongoing in the Main NW and Santa Teresa Extension zones, where long-hole and room-and-pillar mining methods will be used. Along with other areas currently being prepared for higher grade selective mining, we are confident that we will achieve full production according to schedule."

President, Mr. D. Roger Scammell, PGeo, is the Company's Qualified Person for the Nuestra Senora project. Mr. Scammell is responsible for the current exploration and development program and has reviewed the content of this release.

Eisenerz spielt in einer andern liga!

ThyssenKrupp-Betriebsrat fordert vom Konzern Rohstoffstrategie

Corriente and Other Mining Companies Meet With President Correa and Top Officials: Correa Says Responsible Mining Will Go Ahead in Ecuador
CORRIENTE RESOURCES INC CTQ
4/25/2008 7:00:35 AM
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Apr 25, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) --

Corriente (TSX: CTQ)(AMEX: ETQ) announces that the company and seven other mining companies (Aurelian Resources, Cornerstone Capital Resources, Dynasty Metals & Mining, Ecometals Limited, IAMGOLD, International Minerals Corporation and Salazar Resources) collectively met with President Correa and other top officials yesterday afternoon in Quito to discuss the future of mining in Ecuador and the impact of the previously announced Mining Mandate.

The companies welcomed President Correa's repeated statements that responsible mining will go ahead in Ecuador. He said that the purpose of the Mining Mandate was to allow the Government to get its house in order and new mining laws in place so that responsible mining can proceed. The President invited the mining companies to meet with the Ministry (of Mines and Petroleum) to help formulate the new mining laws, starting this coming Monday, April 28.

Present from the Government were President Rafael Correa; Dr. Galo Chiriboga, Minister of Mines and Petroleum; Dr. Jose Serrano, Deputy Secretary of Mines; Dr. Agustin Paladines, Mining Advisor to the President; Fernando Alvarado, Advisor to the President; Ricardo Patino, Minister of Politics; and Dr. Ramon Torres, Business Advisor to the President. The Canadian Ambassador to Ecuador, Christian LaPointe, accompanied the companies and presented the concerns of the Canadian Government for a fair, stable and long-term investment environment in Ecuador.

Corriente continues to seek clarity from the Ecuador Government regarding the Mining Mandate's specific application to the company's operations over the next six months and will issue updates as information becomes available. The Company looks forward to working with the Ministry starting next week.

ABOUT CORRIENTE

Corriente is moving towards construction of a starter operation at its Mirador copper-gold operation. Mirador is one of the few new, sizeable copper projects available for near-term production. Corriente controls a 100% interest in approximately 62,000 hectares located within the Corriente Copper Belt, Ecuador. The Belt currently contains four copper and copper-gold porphyry deposits: Mirador, Mirador Norte, Panantza and San Carlos, as well as six additional copper exploration targets. Corriente is currently in discussions with a number of potential partners about participation in the Company's Panantza - San Carlos Project.

Noront Resources Ltd.: Double Eagle Update
NORONT RESOURCES LTD NOT
4/25/2008 8:50:31 AM
TORONTO, ONTARIO, Apr 25, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) --

Noront Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: NOT) -

Due to numerous inquiries regarding assay results from the Company's project in the McFaulds Lake area, the following is an update on the current status. Since January split core samples have been sent to SGS Mineral Services Laboratory ("SGS") in Toronto and to date, none of the nineteen sample batches representing some 760 individual samples sent to the laboratory have returned results that are acceptable in terms of quality assurance and quality control to the Company and its Quality Control and Quality Assurance ("QA/QC") consultants.

Noront management reports that a number of certified reference material failures in the laboratory have occurred and as such the recent drilling results have been delayed while the lab re-runs the affected work orders and as such complete assays from the drilling programs are not available for release. Certified reference samples are routinely as well as randomly inserted into the sample work orders to monitor analytical results.

Richard Nemis, President and CEO states: "It is indeed unfortunate that at such a critical time in our exploration program there was this sort of unexpected failure in the laboratory used for our project. It is fortunate, however, that the errors were caught by Noront's independent QA/QC consultant management in a timely manner, prior to the results being entered into our project database. Catching these laboratory failures attests to the very stringent quality control and quality assurance protocols that are in place for the Eagle One project as well as all other drill tests, including Eagle Two. Noront's QA/QC program has been in place since October 2007. Our technical advisors assure us that this particular quality control issue does not relate to any assay results that have been previously released, and furthermore the delays in achieving acceptable results from the laboratory have no bearing on the actual results that will be forthcoming."

INDEPENDENT QUALITY CONTROL AND ANALYTICAL PROTOCOL

A comprehensive QA/QC program has been implemented to monitor all assays on the Double Eagle Project and has been in effect since October 2007. Samples are assembled in numbered batches equating to the number of client samples per furnace batch at the Laboratory. Included in each batch of samples are certified reference material samples, blank samples comprised of sterile drill core, as well as field duplicate samples. This QC program was set up for Noront by Tracy Armstrong P.Geo, of P&E Mining Consultants Inc. ("P&E") of Brampton, Ontario. Ms. Armstrong is a qualified geologist in the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Part of the QA/QC requires that assay results are being monitored on an on-going, real time basis for accuracy, contamination and precision by P&E. The sample set results are reviewed by Ms. Armstrong for each work order, and do not get a "green light" for entry into the data base until all QC passes as per the protocol established prior to the program between Noront and the laboratory.

Noront has been kept up to date with the progress on this situation by its' consultants and would like to provide the clarification that all is now in order. Checked assay results will be available for the drilling completed in the first few months of 2008 as soon as they are received from, SGS. SGS has assured the Company and its consultants, that it intends to give this matter top priority!

As announced on March 25, 2008, resource studies at the Eagle One have commenced but this work, as well as progress on the anomaly drilling, has been hampered by this extremely lengthy turn-around time for drill core sample analysis. This is due to the current heavy demand on the Analytical Laboratories. To alleviate the slow turn - around time for assays, the Company has entered into an agreement with Activation Laboratories ("ActLabs"), headquartered in Ancaster, Ontario, whereby ActLabs will provide priority processing to the Company in exchange for a $200,000 advance payment used by ActLabs to construct a new lab facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario. ActLabs will reimburse Noront at a rate of $5 per sample processed. At present the new laboratory in Thunder Bay is accepting samples from the Double Eagle project and providing sample preparation. The resulting sample pulps are forwarded to the ActLabs Ancaster facility for final analysis. It is expected that the total analytical process will begin to be accomplished in Thunder Bay sometime in May of this year. Noront anticipates that this will substantially speed up the turn-around time for analytical results.
