1103 ET - Higher production in Canada for the 2022/23 crop year put downward pressure on prices for most crops in April, farm data released by Canada's statistics agency shows. April prices for non-durum wheat were down on-month across all provinces, except the Maritimes, while durum wheat prices were lower for a third straight month in the two main producing provinces, Saskatchewan and Alberta, Statistics Canada says. Canola prices for the month were lower across all provinces, led by Manitoba which saw its fourth straight monthly fall. Slaughter hog prices also were lower than in March, with reduced global demand an uncertainty in Quebec's processing capacity putting downward pressure on prices, but slaughter cattle prices increased on-month across all provinces, led by Alberta.

0722 GMT - Metals prices are rising, as investors look to today's U.S. consumer price inflation data, with markets expecting a pause in interest rate hikes from the U.S. Federal Reserve later this week. Three-month copper is up 1.4% to $8,400 a metric ton while aluminum is 0.7% higher at $2,238 a ton. Gold meanwhile is up 0.3% to $1,976.30 a troy ounce. "The probability of the Fed pausing in the upcoming meeting has risen, but strong economic activity is suggesting the Fed will remain hawkish in the short term. This could see the gold price consolidating," ANZ Research says in a note. However, when the Fed does stop raising rates, this could act as a tailwind for gold, as would a falling U.S. dollar, ANZ said.

1325 GMT - Rising stocks of Russian aluminum in London Metal Exchange warehouses are becoming a concern according to Bank of America commodities strategist Michael Widmer. The global market may lose some of Rusal's 4.2 million tons of aluminum because of the war, with countries and companies imposing sanctions on Russian goods, he says in a note. LME inventories have been falling, and 45% of what is left has already been spoken for--most of those tonnages likely non-Russian material--Widmer says. "With 52% of the tonnages left in the warehouses of Russian origin, the status quo is concerning," he adds. Volatility may grow if LME warehouses are clogged with Russian metal that consumers do not want to buy, he says. Three-month aluminum is up 1.1% to $2,246 a metric ton.

The shortfall could grow if further hits to output, particularly in Europe, arise, Widmer says.

1107 ET - The OPEC-plus group said its recent production cuts aimed to keep prices relatively stable, and today's strong rebound from a three-session slide suggests that objective might be fulfilled. Rob Haworth, senior investment strategist at U.S. Bank Asset Management, tells WSJ recent selling was due to fears of weak demand growth amid global central bank interest rate hikes, "and weak investor sentiment, as seen in the CFTC commitments of traders data, as net long positions reach multi-year lows." On the flip side, though, he says domestic gasoline and diesel inventories are at the low end of seasonal patterns, and US output growth is modest. "Prices are more likely to remain range bound as we work through the summer," Haworth says. WTI crude trades 3.9% higher at $69.75 a barrel.

Arizona Sonoran Copper Company Inc. (TSX:ASCU | OTCQX:ASCUF) (“ASCU” or the “Company”), an emerging copper developer and near-term producer, today releases 8 infill holes from the Parks/Salyer Pre-Feasibility Study (“PFS”) level drilling program and assays from the first infill to measured drill hole (ECP-148) for the Feasibility Study (“FS”) (see FIGURES 1-17). The Company has now begun to generate an internal updated mineral resource and block model to support the declaration of first reserves in the pending step-up PFS by Q1 2024. Drilling continues with three rigs at Parks/Salyer, reducing drill spacing further to 125 ft (30 m) drill centres in preparation of the FS expected in the second half of 2024.

1451 ET - Natural gas prices finish virtually unchanged on the day, settling a tiny 0.1% higher at $2.342/mmBtu. Still, that small gain means the market has closed higher for the past three sessions straight, and has notched gains in eight of the past nine trading days. Traders say investors were mostly holding their bets as they await weekly storage data tomorrow morning from the EIA that may once again see an above-normal increase which would keep a bearish inventory surplus firmly in place. A WSJ survey is forecasting, on average, a 97 billion cubic feet injection that would be well above the 5-year-average rise of 84 bcf, and would reflect high production and weak demand.

1043 ET - Natural gas prices add to earlier gains, up 5.6% at $2.473/mmBtu after a weekly EIA storage report saw an injection that was less than analysts expected but in-line with averages. The US government agency says gas inventories rose by 84 billion cubic feet last week, which is precisely the same as the five-year average for that week, but well below the 97-bcf rise analysts predicted in a WSJ survey. Total inventories are now 2.634 trillion cubic feet, 27% above last year and 16% above historical averages.

1239 ET - There is growing support for more hydrogen investments which could be a boon for Ballard Power Systems. Raymond James analyst Michael Glen says in a report that Ballard management has seen a large change over the past 1-2 years with support for fuel cell and electrolyser investments in the US. In Europe, energy security has been front of mind and he says there remains a heavy focus on renewables coming on line in the region. Meanwhile in China, "management sees significant intensity on hydrogen fuel cells and massive investment taking place in renewables and electrolysers." Glen says that Ballard management has high hopes for China, eyeing it as the single biggest hydrogen market over the long term.

0751 GMT - Oil prices are flattish but holding onto gains from the previous session that came after China took steps to stimulate its economy. Brent crude oil is down 0.1% at $75.61 a barrel while WTI edges down 0.2% to $70.51 a barrel. Both benchmarks rose more than 3% on Thursday, responding to positive signs surrounding Chinese demand which included Beijing cutting interest rates and issuing a large crude import quota. That is outweighing economic concerns elsewhere in the world, particularly in the U.S. after the Fed hinted it was not yet done raising rates. "The fundamental picture remains robust, but bearish macro sentiment continues to dominate price action," market-analysis company BMI says in a note.

im vergangenen halben handelsjahr kristallisieren sich folgende kursbereiche als wichtige handelsmarken heraus.
eine unterstützung: um 22.80$/23.00$; ein widerstandsbereich: um 24.80$.
der gestrige handelstag verlief freundlich und schloss nahe dem tageshoch, nachdem tags zuvor eine erhöhte volatilität den bullen zu schaffen machte. charttechnisch ergab sich zum ende des tages hin eine stark bullisch zu wertende kerze (lange lunte und ein nicht vorhandener kerzenkörper). der intraday-abschwung wurde massiv von käuferseite gekontert und sollte für den anstehenden aufstieg ein gutes omen sein. als nächstes ziel sollte erneut der bereich um 24.80$ angegangen werden, der, bei nachhaltigen kursen darüber, ein ziel bei 26$ machbar erscheinen lässt.
kurse unterhalb von 23$/22.80$ gäben der shortseite verstärkten auftrieb.
fazit: übergeordnet ist das chartbild eher bullisch zu werten, dennoch ist die aktuelle situation eher einer seitwärtsbewegung zuzuordnen.

diamondback energy, inc.: die aktie fiel mir heute in die "arme". auch wenn sich der kurs unter den gängigen gleitenden durchschnitten bewegt, so ist positiv anzumerken, dass der support um 125$ als ein gewichtiger zu betrachten ist. erst ein rückfall darunter sollte den bären weiteren auftrieb geben. auf der oberseite wären ziele bis zunächst 135$ möglich (charttechnischer widerstand verstärkt durch den sma50). darüberliegende potenzielle ziele sind grob 140$ sowie der bereich 145$/150$ (starke widerstandszone).

WTI crude gained a moderate 2% last week after falling by 2% the previous week. Some investors expected prices to surge much higher after the OPEC+ group announced more production cuts June 4, but after a temporary increase, prices have returned to where they were before the cuts. Oil prices have stayed relatively low in recent weeks due to "a combination of non-fundamental factors, lagging demand, and stronger-than-expected supply," Rystad Energy's Jorge Leon says in a research note. Brent climbs 0.3% to $76.84.

kurse unterhalb von 23$/22.80$ gäben der shortseite verstärkten auftrieb.
fazit: übergeordnet ist das chartbild eher bullisch zu werten, dennoch ist die aktuelle situation eher einer seitwärtsbewegung zuzuordnen.

1037 ET - Natural gas prices erase earlier gains and fall 2.6% to $2.562/mmBtu as the market gets caught up in a broader-market selloff that includes US stock markets and other energy commodities including crude-oil and gasoline. Natural gas futures began the day slightly higher and looked to be on track to close at a fresh, three-month high as summer heat begins to boost demand. But risk aversion seems to have overtaken that bullish sentiment for now, and that's providing a good reason for natural gas investors to book some profits after last week's 17% rally.
